Bob and I had an email and phone collaboration and it was a lot of fun recording this with our NorthCentral PA "Wrecking Crew" of 25 talented session musicians...after singing the Holmes canon of tunes for 30-plus years this had to be done...solid songs...I up-tempo'd some into folk-rockers.

I am currently in studio(along with some great north-central PA players and singers) recording a tribute album of the many Bob Holmes songs I have performed over the years. Bob has given me permission to record, arrange, substitute and add lyrics (like he says, "it's FOLK music" (italics mine). Hope to release what is shaping up to be a beautiful double LP in late Spring 2022.It is my belief that this project will do justice to Bob's wonderul songs and expose a new audience to these tunes.

I also was curious as to the present whereabouts of Bob Holmes. I was a grad student at MIT from 1977 to 1982 and was into the Boston folk scene, attending many concerts at Passim. I saw Bob at The Idler in 1982. I bought his Railroad and Hard Times in the Flood Albums, and still have them. They're really good. I remember that the Railroad album had a scratch and I went to his apartment and he gave me a new copy that was in great shape. He was such a nice and personable guy. In 1982 I moved to Washington, DC and lost track of him. I recently moved back to the area and was wondering if he was still performing. My wife got a job with Biogen in Cambridge, just a few blocks from MIT, so my life has come full circle. Thanks to everyone for persevering in making contact with Bob. I'm glad to hear he's fine, married, and hopefully happy.

Jon, thank you for sending me this thread. It was indeed nice to know that people are still interested in my music. I have not played in years and my wife Becky and I moved out to the Cleveland area some years ago. (Parma Heights 44130, Jimmy Simpson. Becky would love to hear from you.)
If the Vladimir above is the person I remember as Vlad, I am very happy to see that you are alive and well. And Ken Rolston, I still owe you thanks for putting me up when I was performing in North Jersey. (though I'm still picking cat hairs off my clothes.) I hope you are happy and well.

I used to have a radio show in Pittsburgh, and often played 'queen anne street' and 'jo-ann little'. I had a tape, but it was lost when my car was stolen (and 5 years of odd, replaceable music was likely tossed out the window...). I've often wondered what happened to Bob. Such a talented writer!
If anyone could send me an mp3 of these songs, or the Railroad album, I'd appreciate it. I hate it when great music becomes lost, unavailable - DIES! Thanks, jondoe888gmail.

I was just doing an internet search myself for Bob Holmes. I've been meaning to look for a while and just thought of it when I was in front of my computer with a little time. I own copies of both of his LP's and they are two of my favorites. I do a folk music radio show on WCUW in Worcester (In the Tradition, I do Wednesday evenings, from 7:00 - 9:00, the Second and Fourth Wednesday of the month, and the Fifth if there is one) and I play cuts from those records often. Have often wondered what happened to him. Would l ove to know if you get any results.

Regarding last post from Jim Simpson, that address you provided does not seem to be correct. When I typed it in in Zip Code look up, it indicates that it is not a correct address in that city (Cleveland, Ohio).
That address does not exist in that city.

I believe I've found Bob. I was friends with Bob and his wife, Becky.
I last had contact with them around 1980. I too have been trying to contact Bob (and Becky). It was an internet search that led me to this address: 6349 Mallo Pl, Cleveland, Ohio 44130.

I plan to write to them so I hope this is still current for them.
I have a copy of Railroad lp and some singles he put out. I hope he's still making music.

I've been looking for years -- still play his amazing song about Harry Houdini I copied the lyrics down from years ago. He only seems to come up on detailed, exhaustive internet searches from old Harvard Crimson announcements of his Passim shows...I've wondered if he got lost to life along the way. I'm looking for the current email or other coordinates for Bob Holmes, a Boston-area singer-songwriter from the '80's. He published two albums, "Railroad" and "Hard Times in the Flood", but does not appear to be active any longer in acoustic music. I still frequently perform his songs, and would like to get back in touch with him.

The internet is usually sufficient to track folks, but it is a common name [Bob Holmes or Robert Holmes], and tough to filter down to promising hits. Further complicating things... there was a different Robert Holmes in an independent band, 'Til Tuesday', in the Boston area, and a different Robert Holmes is an active singer-songwriter in the British Isles.

I'd be much obliged for any help locating Bob Holmes.
