Barnsley Folk and Acoustic Nights [Bfc]

Following an EGM last night we have decided to move the club some 300yards down Racecommon Road, closer to town, to Barnsley Trades club. This is near the Townend roundabout very accessible with off street parking. The room is downstairs and presents very few difficulties.

The move from the Shaw Inn is due to changes being made in the pub.

I as Chairman have asked that some changes in format to attract support on a weekly basis be put into place very shortly and we hope to "showcase" new talent.

In the meantime String Theory will continue to start their session at 8pm, followed by the usual singers' night.

John Booker, Linda Harris and Ray Padgett hope to be there to welcome newcomers from around 8.30pm.

Guests at the club include Jeni and Billie on June 21st, after their appearance at Beverley ff,

July 3rd Saturday night at The Conservative club upstairs room Hedgehog Pie!!

Contact for the club is Dave Bottomley

Ray Padgett, Chairman Barnsley Folk Club [Folk and Acoustic Nights] still Monday Nights.

It sounds interesting, I will try to attend as a "newcomer", both "new" and "talent" would be pushing the truth a little too far.
See you arround 8.30 all being well.

Monday May 17th is the first night at The Trades Club, Racecommon Rd/Townend Barnsley

Hope we can have a great turn up from 8pm

I will be on hand to take names of those wanting Floor spots, Hot spots and Stained Carpets

Musos from 8pm followed by singers and musicians asap

Need to restablish a membership of musicians and singers, singing and playing and expanding popularity (o and I love performance poets, who are good) and contemporary singer songwriters and blues, and all LIVE people!

WE had a good opening night on May17th with some great visitors doing floor spots, Wendy Arrowsmith and Phil Cockerham in particular and residents John Platt and Dave Bottomnley leading a musos session and then singing later! Sarah is on her honeymmon to Iceland at last!!

Jim Potter, Ray Padgett, John Booker, Daves Lee and Lofthouse and LInda Harris and Dennis the Elder also sang

A different format of 2/3 songs in spots was tried rather than a simple one each apiece allround, with a chance for all to introduce their songs rather than conveyor belt style!

The Trades lounge is I feel a decent room and very accessible being ground floor and not too busy on a Monday night!

One or two other singers are expected on May 24th too!

Ray

Oh I like the sound of that Ray it's a format that will allow people to raise their game and build up a fine tuned performance.

The downside is that I might have to pay Barnsey a visit in the near future I think I need a good night out to start my week!

Just need some more people, singers and audience!

Had a singer from Stockport at the club last night, this is certainly the time of year for transpennine trips

It will be Spring Bank holiday Monday next week, so I dont know might come!
