I see that Sarah McQuaid is appearing at the Club at Well Hall in Eltham on Wednesday 19th May. Details are on the Folkmob.com website. Has anyone seen her before?

Yes - she is absolutely brilliant. Fantastic singer and one of the best guitarists around. Don't miss her!

Very very highly recommended.

Tom

Saw her at Bromyard F. F. and at Ilfracombe supporting Cara Dillon.

Go and see her.

"...at Ilfracombe supporting Cara Dillon..."

should have been the other way round if there were any justice in this world ...

Went to a DADGAD workshop of hers at Sidmouth perhaps three or four years ago.

Clear, comprehensible, useful and very pleasantly and ably presented. Lovely speaking voice and personality apart from anything else.

DADGAD is something I try once in a while, and it is nice to have much more clue about it than I should otherwise. Also it was just a nice workshop.

After several failed attempts at booking Sarah this year, I am delighted to say that she has a booking at Orpington Friday Folk in 2011.

I am really looking forward to tomorrow. I reckon it will give me inspiration to get the guitar tuned up to DADGAD again.

I'm not easily impressed (our club is famous for turning down Paul Simon in '65 you know) but reviewing her last album for Living Trad. mag. - probably about 18 months ago now, I knew instantly that here was something special. Hers was a new name to me prior to that, but despite preferring, in a perfect world to see people play in person prior to a gig (we HAD seen Simon and weren't inspired!) I took a chance and am glad that I did. How many CDs did you shift that night Sarah? - suffice to say the audience agreed with me, she's coming back and I'd say go and see her, book her, buy her lunch - anything but don't miss out. You owe it to yourselves. Trust me - I know these things!!!!

Oh, good heavens, I'm not going to be able to get my head through the door now! Thanks so very very much to all of you for all the kind words.

Clive, I don't have my records to hand but I know I shifted a lot of CDs that night. Can't wait to see you and all the Bothy crowd again in 2011.

Tom, glad to hear you're well and will go have a read up on your site. If you ever fancy a visit to Cornwall you'd be very welcome to stay with us.

Sue, I look forward to meeting you!

Hugs to you all.

Sarah xxxx

along with at least one other
That does not prove you have good taste,in fact some of the jackets I have seen you wearing have been rather tasteless,to say the least.
however I will say that I have a copy of Sarahs book and it is very good.

I praised Sarahs book,I heard her music on my space, she is very good.
perhaps my remark to Clive was unclear,I will clarify,[along with at least one other]was a reference to Dave Cooper, who refused Paul Simon a floor spot at a london club.,at about that time.
I was also having a light hearted joke at Clives sartorial elegance[no malice intended].

The Topic in Bradford also had a legend that Paul Simon was turned down for a spot in the mid-60s, though there's no solid evidence for it.

However, Sarah McQuaid is coming to the Topic on the 23rd September.
