Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: Murray MacLeod Date: 14 May 10 - 06:47 PM "...at Ilfracombe supporting Cara Dillon..." should have been the other way round if there were any justice in this world ... |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: GUEST,Sarah McQuaid Date: 15 May 10 - 06:15 AM Oh golly, have just seen this. Thank you guys so very very much for the kind words! Tom, how are you doing these times? Was just talking about you last night. How's your health now? Sarah xx |

Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: Old Vermin Date: 15 May 10 - 08:02 AM Went to a DADGAD workshop of hers at Sidmouth perhaps three or four years ago. Clear, comprehensible, useful and very pleasantly and ably presented. Lovely speaking voice and personality apart from anything else. DADGAD is something I try once in a while, and it is nice to have much more clue about it than I should otherwise. Also it was just a nice workshop. |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: GUEST,Girl Friday Date: 15 May 10 - 01:21 PM After several failed attempts at booking Sarah this year, I am delighted to say that she has a booking at Orpington Friday Folk in 2011. |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: GUEST,Dave Kenningham Date: 18 May 10 - 07:14 AM I am really looking forward to tomorrow. I reckon it will give me inspiration to get the guitar tuned up to DADGAD again. |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: GUEST,Clive Pownceby Date: 18 May 10 - 07:46 AM I'm not easily impressed (our club is famous for turning down Paul Simon in '65 you know) but reviewing her last album for Living Trad. mag. - probably about 18 months ago now, I knew instantly that here was something special. Hers was a new name to me prior to that, but despite preferring, in a perfect world to see people play in person prior to a gig (we HAD seen Simon and weren't inspired!) I took a chance and am glad that I did. How many CDs did you shift that night Sarah? - suffice to say the audience agreed with me, she's coming back and I'd say go and see her, book her, buy her lunch - anything but don't miss out. You owe it to yourselves. Trust me - I know these things!!!! |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: Sarah McQuaid Date: 18 May 10 - 01:06 PM Oh, good heavens, I'm not going to be able to get my head through the door now! Thanks so very very much to all of you for all the kind words. Clive, I don't have my records to hand but I know I shifted a lot of CDs that night. Can't wait to see you and all the Bothy crowd again in 2011. Tom, glad to hear you're well and will go have a read up on your site. If you ever fancy a visit to Cornwall you'd be very welcome to stay with us. Sue, I look forward to meeting you! Hugs to you all. Sarah xxxx |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: The Sandman Date: 18 May 10 - 02:22 PM (our club is famous for turning down Paul Simon in '65 you know) along with at least one other That does not prove you have good taste,in fact some of the jackets I have seen you wearing have been rather tasteless,to say the least. however I will say that I have a copy of Sarahs book and it is very good. |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: Murray MacLeod Date: 18 May 10 - 04:07 PM leave it out, Dick , this is Sarah's thread ... |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: The Sandman Date: 18 May 10 - 06:07 PM I praised Sarahs book,I heard her music on my space, she is very good. perhaps my remark to Clive was unclear,I will clarify,[along with at least one other]was a reference to Dave Cooper, who refused Paul Simon a floor spot at a london club.,at about that time. I was also having a light hearted joke at Clives sartorial elegance[no malice intended]. |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: Singer of Songs Date: 19 May 10 - 07:26 PM A great night at Folkmob. Sarah is a fantastic performer. |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: Seayaker Date: 20 May 10 - 05:43 AM We did tell you Always trust the 'Cat:) |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: Nicholas Waller Date: 20 May 10 - 12:19 PM The Topic in Bradford also had a legend that Paul Simon was turned down for a spot in the mid-60s, though there's no solid evidence for it. However, Sarah McQuaid is coming to the Topic on the 23rd September. |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: Sarah McQuaid Date: 30 May 10 - 03:17 PM Thanks so much all! Sarah x |
Subject: RE: Sarah McQuaid From: open mike Date: 30 May 10 - 03:21 PM "inspiration to get the guitar tuned up to DADGAD " shouldn't it read tuning it DOWN.... |
