Subject: Free upload/download mp3 site From: GUEST,Wally Macnow Date: 17 May 10 - 10:21 PM I'm looking for a website where I can upload mp3 files and people can listen to and download those files for free. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've loaded some materials at 4shared.com but you can download it bu can't listen to the material. Or I haven't been able to and if its that difficult, it's probably not where I want the files. Musichutch.com is a pretty nice site and you can both listen and retrieve files but has a problem in common with 4shared. Neither one of them seems to work with the Apple operating system. I suspect they both use flash technology which Apple doesn't support. Looking forward to hearing from folks. Wally |

Subject: RE: Free upload/download mp3 site From: GUEST,matt milton Date: 18 May 10 - 08:15 AM I like soundcloud and myspace. I think soundcloud is the cleanest and simplest site for putting music up, while leaving a bit of space for the occasional comment. It's basically modelled on a blog, I suppose. Myspace is obviously a bit more geared towards telling people about yourself, upcoming gigs, etc etc |
Subject: RE: Free upload/download mp3 site From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 18 May 10 - 08:30 AM Try http://drop.io/ Gives 100 Mb free - more if you pay It's intended as a drop and pick up site - no enhancements. |
Subject: RE: Free upload/download mp3 site From: Jack Campin Date: 18 May 10 - 08:41 AM Non-members can't download from Soundclick and MySpace is part of the Murdoch empire. Motagator works okay on Macs - some Mudcatters use it. It's like a low-tech MySpace, only it doesn't require you to make your membership transferable to the Hitler Youth. |
Subject: RE: Free upload/download mp3 site From: GUEST,matt milton Date: 18 May 10 - 09:08 AM SoundCloud works well on a Mac. The genre/category lists in which you place your song are sensible, and you can start your own if you can't see one which fits. |
Subject: RE: Free upload/download mp3 site From: Nick Date: 18 May 10 - 04:28 PM I've used Esnips for some time. It gives 5gb of free space and I've used it's little widgets on things like here which I use to show people what happens at our local pub. I think it's been there a year or two so seems to work. It doesn't like anything it thinks is copyright and sometimes guesses wrong which can be irritating but I probably have loads of music and files on it and 5gb goes a long way. I have used about 2gb and that's a few hundred files. |
Subject: RE: Free upload/download mp3 site From: GUEST,Wally Macnow Date: 18 May 10 - 06:10 PM The nice thing about 4shared is that I have 15GB of space there. If all goes well, I'll use it all and then some. |
Subject: RE: Free upload/download mp3 site From: Jack Campin Date: 18 May 10 - 06:15 PM Nick, your site doesn't do anything at all in my browser, even after activating Javascript. No Mac will have ActiveX - is there an alternative version somewhere? I seem to remember I tried to get an eSnips account a few months ago but couldn't do it using any machine in the house (they're all Macs of various ages). |
Subject: RE: Free upload/download mp3 site From: GUEST,afteraithe Date: 03 Jun 10 - 04:19 PM I have a couple sites you can try out. The first site is Grooveshark. I use this site a lot to just listen to music, and I know there are ways to download from it. Also, if you want to be completely white hat, I would suggest eMusic. They allow you to download MP3s for free. That's all I have for you. Hope it helps! |
