Has anyone been to the Auchtermuchty Festival? Auch Fest The lineup looks really good. The B&Bs in the area I've seen so far look pricy - Can anyone put us up or loan us camping gear?

I used to go quite often but haven't been for a few years. It certainly was good back then. They had a few problems when their previous main organizer was terminally ill but kept on trying to run it all - probably it's a rather different beast now. Used to have very good traditional singing competitions.

We can lend you a 3-person dome tent (which has its own history, it used to belong to the moothie player Iain Grant), a few karrimats and sleeping bags, and an ineffectual campstove. Too much clutter for me to want to carry, but I don't have a car and also have a lot of instruments. The campsite is a lively scene. There isn't much B&B accommodation in Auchtermuchty itself. If you want that and hava a car, Cupar (Fife, not Coupar Angus) and Strathmiglo aren't far away.

They do terrific festival t-shirts. I still have their "The Full Muchty" one (parody of the "Full Monty" poster with the zip).

I may well head up to Auchtermuchty as well this year. I won't be camping but will probably head up by car (I'm about an hour and a quarter from there). Reportedly, there were good sessions there last year.

I'm just back from a great traditional song weekend just along the road at Fife Animal Park.
(If you're in need of a good pint while you're at Muchty try the Stag at Falkland, half a dozen miles south.)

Can't see me getting up for it, but I'd sure love to catch Angus Grant.
