Subject: Pearls Before Swine/Tom Rapp From: Thomas Stern Date: 24 May 10 - 05:06 PM Any Pearls Before Swine/Tom Rapp fans out there? I've just learned that the only PBS LP which had not been issued on CD (STARDANCER, 1972) has finally been released on CD. The first of 2 albums on the BLUE THUMB label. The 2nd album (SUNFOREST, 1973) has been available on CD for many years. A subsidiary of CHERRY RED RECORDS (UK), LEMON RECORDS issued both albums last year: Lemon CDLEM 128 STARDANCER Lemon CDLEM 129 SUNFOREST Best wishes, Thomas. |
Subject: RE: Pearls Before Swine/Tom Rapp From: Larry The Radio Guy Date: 24 May 10 - 05:39 PM Yes, I'm totally a Pearls Before Swine/Tom Rapp fan. I've learned many of his songs. Not overly concerned about them coming out on CD, since I still enjoy playing them on vinyl. But he has put out a couple cd's with some outtakes and live performances. As well as a relatively recent cd Journal of the Plague Year (1999)--which had some wonderful songs! And there's lots of news about his work as a civil rights lawyer--some positive (successfully winning an anti-discrimination suit re. forced retirement) and some not so positive from my persepctive. (fighting to stop a treatment centre from going up in a residential neighbourhood). But no new music, unfortunately. Wonder if he's writing any. |
Subject: RE: Pearls Before Swine/Tom Rapp From: Phil Cooper Date: 24 May 10 - 07:29 PM There was a great four disc set called Jewels were the stars released of the four reprise lps a couple years back. The cover art is better on the LP's I think. I saw Tom Rapp perform back in 1974 and it was a great concert. |
