Subject: RE: Good Intent Concert Night - 8th. June From: Richard Bridge Date: 07 Jun 10 - 10:37 AM Oh, do you do any English Folk (1954 definition)? |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Concert Night - 8th. June From: melodeonboy Date: 07 Jun 10 - 12:56 PM Does "All For My Grog" qualify? :) |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Concert Night - 8th. June From: Richard Bridge Date: 07 Jun 10 - 01:20 PM Yes, it's in the Gardiner Manuscripts, but not I think the version you do. |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Concert Night - 8th. June From: melodeonboy Date: 07 Jun 10 - 02:19 PM Hmm... Do 1954 rules specify interpretations? I thought it was the song itself that was specified rather than how one sings it. |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Concert Night - 8th. June From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 07 Jun 10 - 07:32 PM Having gone to the trouble, after being asked to do a solo support, of arranging to upgrade to "Sic Transit", I'm wondering whether it was worth the bother. Can't we get by for one evening without somebody asking "Is it folk"? The '54 definition does not apply in the US, where folk is a much broader spectrum, and the name "Atlantic Currants" should provide a clue. Clive and I will probably be quite light on '54 definition folk too. If you don't want what we provide....................... If on the other hand, you do, come along and fill yer boots. "Atlantic Currants" are old friends, and a class act. Well worth the trip. Don T. |

Subject: RE: Good Intent Concert Night - 8th. June From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 09 Jun 10 - 05:49 AM Atlantic Currants are four stunningly good musicians, who gel remarkably into a unit with a very distinctive sound. Their music, as you might suppose from the name, wanders delightfully back and forth across the pond, and embraces just about everything from UK folk to Appalachian to Blugrass and Cajun. For me they rank right up there with the younger bands in that they have produced their own very distinctive and unforgettable sound. Any organisers looking for pure entertainment, with something for everyone, BOOK 'EM! Don T. |
Subject: RE: Good Intent Concert Night - 8th. June From: Richard Bridge Date: 09 Jun 10 - 06:11 AM I meant words and tune, not interpretation thereof. |
