Subject: RE: Morris meets Breakdance - Demon Barbers From: Tattie Bogle Date: 23 Jun 10 - 07:38 PM "Interesting"? That's an understatement Geoff! Exhilarating, exhausting to watch - where DO they get the energy from. Saw them at Sidmouth a few years back, and was blown away by them. Wish I could come again, but too far away! Do let us know how you get on! |
Subject: RE: Morris meets Breakdance - Demon Barbers From: open mike Date: 24 Jun 10 - 02:45 AM there is a group of male accapella singers called Demon Barbers.. a different group? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggEBhFZfZl8&feature=related i guess you mean these folks? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4E_adG43AuY&feature=related |
Subject: RE: Morris meets Breakdance - Demon Barbers From: Geoff the Duck Date: 24 Jun 10 - 04:19 AM Tattie - I should hope so. As for this show, all I really know about this show is what is on the flyer and web link. It doesn't give much of a clue, but sounds interesting. I have no idea what to expect other than there will be dancing involved. Only a few hours to go before I find out. Quack! GtD. |
Subject: RE: Morris meets Breakdance - Demon Barbers From: Ruth Archer Date: 24 Jun 10 - 05:29 AM I went to Leeds for the premier. It was fabulous. There are all sorts of surprises that I won't spoil for you, but the idea of the show is that it brings together traditional/folk dance with urban street dance (arguably the folk dance of the 21st century...?). The central construct is that the folk dancers and the street dancers meet up down their local...and the resultant dance mash-up is by turns funny, inspired, breathtaking and brilliant. Expect some novel takes on folk dances you think you know - and if you're not particularly keen on or conversant with street dance, I suspect you may walk away from the show with a whole new respect for that genre. I certainly did. |
