Subject: BS: songs and ideas for clerical abuse cd
From: GUEST,mg

Several songs have been suggested. I have one about a Boston grandmother to tune of Boston Burglar.

Here is another..Boys of Mount Cashel.

The boys of Mount Cashel lie wetting their beds
They wait in the dark for the footsteps they dread
Too stunned and ashamed to show where they have bled
The boys of MC are crying tonight

Those find Christian Brothers so saintly we thought
Some really were and some really not
They'd have gone on forever except they got caught
The boys etc.

The men of Mount Cashel are going berserk
Raring to throttle each henious jerk
But the magistrates say let the law do its work
The boys etc.

Lives without promise lives without hope
How they must hate us how do they cope
I will follow this trail if it leads to the pope
The boys etc.

I want to be there when the blame comes around
Sure there's plenty enough for us all to be found
And I pray to high heavens that God hears the sound
Of the boys of Mount Cashel who are crying tonight

Who wrote that, mg? It's excellent.

Shouldn't this thread be in the music section?

Have a look for The Pope Song by Tim Minchin - I saw it on YouTube a few days ago. Warning - the lyrics are NSFW.

... "The men of Mount Cashel are going berserk

Reminiscent of John Milton at his most lyrical imo ...

Mg didn't say anything about avoiding songs under copyright.

My favorite is the humorous one "The Vicar and the Frog". A topical fairy story.

How about "Father Peter (The Pedophile Priest)" by "Spit".

I have about 20 songs total now..get back to me if you have one you want to include..must be no copyright issues period. Healing type songs will be great..any denomination or non..there are other songs that are more historical..this should only be about your own religion..like no Amish songs except by Amish etc. .I will have to use my judgement on what to include on this..

I am taking what I have so far to Archbishop Martin of Dublin after Easter..I will be in Dublin (staying in the Jacob's hostel near a train station if anyone is nearby just leave a message if you can..or leave one here).

Down the aisle the choir passes,
Vicar's eye upon their arses.
They have got a lot to lose:
Which one will the vicar choose?

There's a great comic song the duo 1812 used to sing, telling a convoluted and improbable tale involving a choir boy and wicked witches and magic spells and I don't know what all. Then you get to the last line, which is:

Lords and Gentlemen,
The defense rests.

PS: Just found a link that gives the story, which was then made into the song:
