Subject: Happ Birthday T-Bone Walker! From: Amos Date: 31 May 10 - 10:26 AM Aaron Thibeaux Walker was born on this day in 1910 in Linden, Texas, a little town near the Louisiana border. Better known to the world as "T-Bone" Walker, he was not only one of the most influential musicians to rise up from the fertile Texas blues scene, but his impact on blues guitar worldwide cannot be understated. Mentored by the great Blind Lemon Jefferson, Walker was one - if not the first - blues guitarist to plug his instrument into an amp and take it for a drive. In doing so, Walker revolutionized electric blues and influenced artists from B.B. King, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, and Johnny Winter to contemporary bluesmen like Dave Specter, Joe Louis Walker, and Ronnie Earl. Join us today in celebrating the life and career of the one and only T-Bone Walker! From Keith's Blues Blog |
