Subject: Blue Walkin' From: D. Jones - lde_jones@centuryinter.net Date: 13 Aug 99 - 03:06 PM From many years ago camping I vaguely remember a ballad about a hound dog named Blue - one line was something like "Are you walking these hills tonight Blue?" Does anyone know the song - and where I might find it? |

Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: BLUE WALKIN' (camp song) From: GUEST,Camp Redwing staff, Whopper Date: 04 Jun 09 - 11:29 PM Blue Walkin (It is an eerie camp song - about an old man calling for his dog.) Chorus: E A E A B7 E Blue Walkin'. Blue Walkin'. Are you walking these hills tonight, Blue? Floppy ears and a draggin' tail, a heart's that faithful and true. Are you walking these hills tonight, Blue? Through these woods we used to roam, huntin' was all we'd do. Are you walking these hills tonight, Blue? Then one day you went away, I wish that I knew why. Are you walking these hills tonight, Blue? Master I hear you callin'. Callin' me back to you. Are you walking these hills tonight, Blue? |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Blue Walkin' (camp song) From: GUEST,Guest Date: 18 Aug 15 - 08:41 PM Ella Jenkins did a rendition of this song on the children's album "Seasons for Singing." It is a bit shorter than some of the versions posted here, which is why I was looking it up in the first place. It is such a lovely little song that I hoped I could find a few more verses. I was very pleased to find a few here. Hope this helps some one else :-) Url of video of Jenkins' Recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVQztrSva6U |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Blue Walkin' (camp song) From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 19 Aug 15 - 06:02 PM Thanks for the link, Guest. that's a nice song. Why is a dog called Blue? Probably because it's a blue tick hound. These dogs tree their prey and then howl. Here's a video of a pup who has spotted, if not actually treed, a prey animal. Clearly the prey animal just wishes it would shut up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_--x0b9fiUY |
