The Borderline Folk Music Club of Rockland County is very proud indeed to present a special house concert on Sunday afternoon, August 1st with singer-songwriter KRAY VAN KIRK from Juneau, Alaska.

For those of you who are not familiar with his music, Kray Van Kirk is nothing short of phenominal. He has such a sweet and pleasant voice and his songs are very moving. He has the uncanny ability to combine melodies and lyrics in a way that few other singer-songwriters can match. If you don't believe me you can go to his website www.krayvankirk.com and listen to complete songs for yourself. You will literally be astounded by this man's talent and ability. He is Stan Rogers, Gordon Lightfoot, and Richard Thompson, all rolled up into one. Kray is also a superb guitar player and his instrument is composed entirely of graphite (except for the strings).

Kray Van Kirk is very well known in Alaska but rarely ventures into the lower 48 as Alaskans say. We at The Borderline were very fortunate to catch him for a performance. He will be on his way to visit friends in Ireland and happens to have a one day layover on Sunday, August 1st, between planes. You will not be able to catch him anywhere else in our area for the forseeable future.

The concert will take place in Steve Shapiro's Living Room located at 7 - Trailside Court in New City (Rockland County), NY and begins at 2 PM. Admission is $20 per person ($15 for Borderline members) and we ask that you bring a cold pot luck dessert dish to share with 4 other people.

Because this is a house concert we have a limited seating capacity of 50. We expect to sell out very fast. We therefore strongly reccomend that you make advance reservations by e-mail at solz1@optonline.net or by calling (845) 354-4586.

One of my favorites of Kray's is his 'Lost Lovers Waltz' so I went looking.   Warning: There's a mixup- Lost Waltz is labeled 'Dust'. So click on Dust...

Have a Listen

Ebbie,
Apparently the mixup was corrected. When you click on "Dust" you get "Dust" and not "Lost Lovers Waltz". Your blue link also takes you directly to "Dust". You can also listen to all the songs by going directly to www.krayvankirk.com which is Kray's website. They are all correctly labeled there. You can also view 2 videos as well, one of them being "Lost Lovers Waltz"

My apologies for any coding mix-ups! The fault is all mine!

I'll have an updated and upgraded website rolling out prior to the show, which will hopefully have all the songs in a format much easier to download and play.

And thank you so much to everyone for all the kinds words! I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Kray

We already have half our seats filled for this special concert. This is truly amazing for a performer from Alaska who is virtually unknown in our area. However, when people go to the website and hear what Kray Van Kirk sounds like it is no wonder that they want to catch this outstanding artist live, in his only east coast appearance this year.

Well folks, the concert is this coming Sunday. We have an amazing turnout for a performer who is totally unknown in the New York metro area. In booking Kray Van Kirk for this concert I violated 2 of my own rules. One is never to book a performer sight unseen and never schedule a show mid-summer to compete with the festivals. However, this guy was just too good to pass up. It looks like all my regular patrons believed me because Kray is outselling all of of our really good local singer songwriters that I have booked in the past. At present, I still have a few more seats left but it looks like we will be sold out by the weekend.

I just shlepped 21 extra chairs over to the venue this morning in anticipation of a capacity crowd. I would like to think that people did go to Kray's website, listened to his music, liked what they heard, and want to see him live.
