Holy Maggots: Early Music/Folk Music concert

Date: Saturday, 19 June 2010
Time: 19:30 - 22:00
Location: St Andrew's Church, Cheadle Road, Cheadle Hulme, SK8 5ET

Acoustic concert in aid of Tearfund, featuring guitar/bouzouki/mandolin; fiddle; recorders; & whistles, playing mainly 16th - 18th century dance tunes. Mostly anonymous, but Purcell, Holborne, Weelkes & Praetorius are included.

Free entry with opportunities to donate; interval refreshments; books & CDs on sale; all proceeds to Tearfund.

Weelkes & Praetorius are included I speed read that as Whelks and Praties. Wonder if that is what early musicians ate...

Sounds good to me to - and just down the road. May well get there. Even without the seafood and chips:-)

They ate peascods, pears, chestnuts, figs, black pepper, pickle, jack pudding, oranges & lemons, sage leaf, beans, aniseed, and of course lots of maggots (an early form of stilton?).
Who knows what we'll offer at the interval refreshments...
