Subject: RE: Richard Thompson interview From: Jane Bird Date: 10 Jun 10 - 05:47 PM The interview on Front Row tonight was really interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed the bits were the interviewer persuaded RT to play a few bits and pieces. Basically saying, "Go on, play something please. ... Ah, that was great! Play something else, now." It's exactly the right approach to interviewing musicians. He speaks in a very irrudite and intelligent way about the music he loves, but all the fans were dying to hear him play, the interviewer included! The first comment after the DT article misses the point somewhat, doesn't it? Very funny, and a bit sad, as if chappie had actually heard "Rumor and Sigh" for instance he might find that he quite likes RT. Perhaps I should suggest that? |
Subject: RE: Richard Thompson interview From: Edthefolkie Date: 10 Jun 10 - 04:24 PM I've read it now! He seems annoyed by something. Maybe he got bricked when he tried to do the Steve Vai back catalogue in the pub while the footy was on? Good interview, Richard thought provoking as always. |
Subject: RE: Richard Thompson interview From: GUEST,closet folkie Date: 10 Jun 10 - 03:57 PM The rambling comment (at the end of the article) attacking Thommo is hysterical. Anyone else read it? |
Subject: RE: Richard Thompson interview From: Herga Kitty Date: 10 Jun 10 - 02:30 PM I just heard an interview with RT on BBC Radio 4's Front Row about the Meltdown festival too! Kitty |
Subject: Richard Thompson interview From: Bainbo Date: 09 Jun 10 - 03:54 PM Look what I found on the Daily Telegraph site. An interview with Richard Thompson about his curating of the Meltdown festival, in London, which includes a tribute to Kate McGarrigle, her kids Rufus and Martha, Emmylou Harris and Nick Cave. Interesting that he obviously still regards himself as firmly planted in "the folk world". |
