This is folk1234 reporting from the salt flats of the Navasink River. Just came in from having coffee in the gazebo on the water. The Gathering began yesterday evening with a trip to a local bar that featured a 'folk group'?. Anna, Glen, Jeri from NH, and I drank margaritas and listen to the folk group. Can you believe they had "do-wop" girls singing backup! Jeri also sang backup and played the fiddle; Anna & Glen danced. I took photos. bbc, Duane D, & davidmc24 just arrived. We'll post more later.

Duane D., davidmc24, & I needed to leave at about 8 pm--family commitments. Hated to go! We had a great time! Attendees included annap (of course!), folk1234 (from Oklahoma!), Jeri (from New Hampshire), dick greenhaus, Susan of DT, & Max! Glenn & a few friends & neighbors also dropped by. anna has a really wonderful setting between the Atlantic Ocean & a beautiful river. Her gazebo is on the end of a dock right on the river. We spent most of the time there--chatting, eating, or making music together. Max & folk1234 were new acquaintances for me & I thoroughly enjoyed meeting both of them! Had a chance to chat w/ Max about some of the new features of Mudcat & to express my appreciation to him. Sorry that more of you couldn't come. Hope to see you in the future. Thanks, anna, for being such a kind hostess!

love,

bbc

Everyone has left and now my house is lonely and quiet. I look forward to the next gathering, but at this time I'm not sure when that will be. There will be one in January when Bill/Sables and his wife come to stay, but I'm not sure before then. Glenn and I will definitely be in Washington in October and will love to meet all the wonderful Mudcatters who wll be there.

A special thanks to Folk1234 for the wonderful beer stew he made for us. I still have some in my fridge and I'm going to go have some right now. It was wonderful.

bbc brought some delicious breakfast cookines that we had this morning with coffee. Wonderful.

Thank you Jeri for taking such a long trip here to give us the pleasure of your delightful company and music.

Susan, Dick, and Max..thank you for a wonderful time as always and all your help and goodies.

I want to thank everyone for being here and I enjoyed it very much. Thank you all for your help.

Love, annap

annap, THANK YOU!!! I had such a great time, I thought about it all the way home - such a beautiful place to live, and such interesting and generous people. I never did get in a kayak, but I spent a lot of time in the river, anyway. Thanks to Max for showing me how to catch clams with my feet, and how not to catch crabs.

And a very special "Thank You" to you Anna and Glen. You are a wonderful hostess & host. I got back to Ada, OK late yesterday afternoon. I will long remember the our music in the gazebo. Dick G's and Max's blues, Jeri's fiddle and whistle and her own original songs, singing with bbc, Duane D, davidmc24, Anna, and Susan of DT (thanks for having the words when I needed them). bbc, please post the photos when you get back from the Heartland.
