I'm off to North Cornwall tomorrow for a week. I tried looking on Folk News Kernow, but it's way out of date (apart from a clubs listing).

Anyone know of anything happening in the area this coming week? singarounds, gigs, sessions....

Thanks!

Bude Sunday 13th

But you know that

Where are you based ?

Do try to go to Bodmin if you have never been before, it is a long established well respected club. Vic Legg is worth the visit alone tremendous singer of entertaining songs, a fine vocalist, but he always goes on early, then sits back in the front with a ready wit and a charming smile always laughing.

A good supply of residents too.

Vin Garbutt at Folk on the Moor on Sun 13th, but it may be already sold out

Ben Campbell , Anton and Graham run the most successful club in the Soth-west

And Ben is a terrific singer.writer performer sometime collaborating with Graham's wordsmithery

Another 'must' visit club, the following sunday is a singers and they get packed out for that too according to Ben

FOLK on the MOOr, from its website

FOTM's Potted History! Those of you familiar with "Folk On The Moor" will know us from our long residency at The Moorland Hotel, Wotter; some may even recall the old days at "The Who'd Have Thought It" Folk Club. Indeed we held many fine evenings of music at that venue before our stay at Wotter. But now we look forward to an equally successful time at The Westward Inn, Lee Mill

Many of the faces from those years back are still with us - granted they may be a little greyer round the gills, but old folkies never die! When we look down the rolls of cracked parchment and see some of the names that have guested for us, you will see that our reputation for being one of the country's most successful and popular clubs is well deserved - Mike Silver, Johnny Coppin, the Albion Band, Artisan, Les Barker, Steve Tilston, Gilly Darbey, Jez Lowe, Chris Wood, the late Cyril Tawney, Vin Garbutt, Dangerous Curves... and so many more! Acts booked for Lee Mill include Harvey Andrews, Cockersdale, Belshazzar's Feast, Clive Carroll, Sara Grey & Kieron Means, Tom B liss & Tom Napper, Bob Fox and so on!

We have also been the setting off point for several musical offerings - the fine young band Equation ( and, therefore, Seth Lakeman ) found their feet with us; the outstanding shanty crew - Hanging Johnny - came together at the club; Pete Fisher - the renowned harpist tried much of his recorded material with us; and we even managed to launch a song writing partnership that has gone from strength to strength with Ben Campbell and our own poet, Graham Searle. Many of our visitors have also remarked on the continuing excellence of our floor acts - but whatever your leanings in performance... musicians, singers, bands... You will find a warm welcome is extended to you. And you do not have to be a performer to get a real buzz out of any of our club nights. Indeed many of our members just come for the unique atmosphere we seem to generate.

Membership is straightforward enough - it's £10 a year, valid for twelve calendar months from the date you join. This allows you to get in to any event we organise at a reduced rate. Admission on Singers' Nights is £3.00 ( £2.00 for Club Members ) and just £1.00 for all performers. Entrance on Guests Nights is a little more.

If you are made of strong stuff - try our Performers Gallery!

May well be able to get to Bude on Sunday.

Have sung a couple of times at Folk on the Moor, and I vaguely remember Anton. Very lovely welcoming club. Great fun trying to find it in the dark too! but got there eventually.

Mr Red - as I clearly said above - I've already gone to your link to Folk News Kernow, and it's completely out of date. So only good for the song club list.

Thanks all.
