We've only just arrived home after a great weekend! I knew we wouldn't pass as "well dressed" so we decorated straw hats with flowers (like the wells) and were mistaken for Morris Dancers!
I know that the organisers have plans to increase the fringe activities next year.

Just had to say a big thank you for the Tunes session, it was enormous fun and you were very generous with the printed music. Some of the tunes did not exactly fit on a DG(partial A) autoharp, but I had fun trying anyway! Sorry I missed most of the Wakes, didn't get there till too late as I had no way of knowing when acts were on, but what I did hear was wonderful. Also saw some of Lady Maisery, VG, also Skyhook, but due to long journey was not able to stop for Ethno - though Karen Tweed has been raving about them today. Nice festival though, which understood that it is not the big acts, it is what you can do when the acts are not playing that makes a festival. Your session, the dulcimer hands on session, the pub sessions all really added a lot to the festival.

Yes name is insired by Derbyshire Tradion of dressing wells.

I think you will find amongst others Ethno In Transit and and the new Harmony trio Lady Maisery will also be worth the visit, as well as addition to lineup Hannah James and Sam Sweeney.

I believe this refers to the tradition of dressing the wells in the Peak District, Derbyshire, UK. Several villages in the area "dress" their wells - springs - with tableaux made from flowers, often referring to Bible stories, but not always. See here for details of local well dressings.

Anyway, I bought my ticket last week though it hasn't come yet! Lau, Karen Tweed and Les barker are not to be sneezed at!

Curious, I went to the site, but it doesn't seem to explain 'well-dressed.'

Do I have to be well-dressed if I'm just in the audience? Would I need to buy a suit or a formal gown? Tiara? High heels?

What's the story?

There as been previous interest in the Ashover Tunes and dances on this forum - thought some of you may be interested that as part of the Ashover Well dressed festival 2nd-4th July, The Ram Company will be running a workshop on the Ashover Tunes.

The band will also be performing their "Walzers & Wonders"- A musical journey through the fair.

Both on Sat 3rd full info at www.ashoverwelldressedfestival.co.uk.
