Subject: RE: Help: Chords for Battle Hymn of the Republic From: Joe_F Date: 28 Apr 07 - 08:14 PM Altho RUS does, shamefully, omit "The Battle Hymn of the Republic", it does contain a pastiche called "The Battle Hymn of Women" that supplies the chords. They agree with Margo's. For a little added swank, I incline to put a B7 in just before the Em. And indeed, in the chorus, that line may well go A7 Em B7 Em. |

Subject: RE: Help: Chords for Battle Hymn of the Republic From: Margo Date: 15 Aug 99 - 02:15 PM Sorry ,I forgot a D7 before the last G. You can pluck all the strings at once with four fingers, and deaden them with your hand in a one-two rhythm, and it gives you a clean cut march sound. It's really easy. I hope you have fun with this! Subject: RE: Help: Chords for Battle Hymn of the Republic From: Margo Date: 15 Aug 99 - 02:09 PM If you start in C you'll have to use F. Here you go. G, C, G, D7, G, C, Em, C, G. All very simple and easy chords. The Eminor is great sounding at that point. Any questions, I'll be around today! Love ya, Margarita |
Subject: Chords for Battle Hymn of the Republic From: WyoWoman Date: 15 Aug 99 - 01:38 PM I know this is dirt-simple, but remember I'm a novice at this guitar picking stuff, and I have a gig coming up tomorrow! I decided to do the Melanie version of "Psychotherapy," but "Rise Up Singing" doesn't have "Battle Hymn of the Republic" in it (the tune to which Psychotherapy is sung), and I can't find it anywhere except in my Congregationalist hymnbook, in the key of B-flat, which is beyond my scope presently. Anyone out there able to give me a quick fix? C would be a nice key. But I can adjust. Just nothing with F or B chords in it. (Hey, I'll get there someday. But not today...) Multiple thanx, WW |
