HI Folks - just want to spread the word - September 4 and 5 2010 sees the 2nd annual Halifax Harbour Sea Music Festival take place on the grounds, wharves and jettys of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax NS. We have partnered up with the Helen Creighton Folklore Society, the Halifax Storytellers Association, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and Halifax Regional Municipality...

There will be some music on ships in the harbour as well, on the HRM Ferries and a children's stage and storytelling venue inside the museum's Days of Sail Gallery. Most of the event is free aside from the Sunday Evening Concert in the Small Craft Gallery and a Chantey Cruise aboard Tall Ship Silva on Saturday Evening at 6:00. Music workshops and small concerts run from noon to 6 each day in the Courtyard, on deck of our ship CSS Acadia and in Sackville Landing performance venue (HRM). We have a website set up - http://halifaxharbourseamusicfest.webs.com
For info you can call myself at 902 - 406 - 5641
or by email at davidstone@accesswave.ca...Thanks - David

Website.

Looks good!

Always had a good time in Halifax. And, all those redheads and blondes! Very "Celtic and English". I suppose that goes for the men as well, but I really didn't notice.

Richard Grainger http://www.richard-grainger.com (he's from the North East of England ..Middlesbrough)just played the past month in southwestern Ontario and finished off his tour at the Port Dover (Ontario) Marine Heritage Festival. I asked him if he has ever toured the east coast of Canada yet, he said no, but he'd like to.
He just flew back to the UK this evening but is coming back to the Cambridge Ontario area for the 18th annual Mill Race Folk Festival at the end of July. He is staying with us at our house, so I will show him your web site and maybe next year he could play at your festive.
He's a brilliant story teller/song writer. Have a listen to some of his stuff on Youtube if you dont know who he is

Cheer Russ

Agreed with Russ completely on Richard Grainger. He is indeed a brilliant songwriter, fine singer and guitar player.

Thanks for all the discussion - I'd be more than happy to receive some music from Richard Grainger - we are fairly set for this year - unless I win the lottery of course - We have had a flood of interest from US and UK performers and a few ticket enquiries to date. Right now we have added Al Parrish (formerly of Tanglefoot) Bob Walser (Minneapolis) Debra Cowan (Westborough Mass) plus our own phenomenal singer/writer Dan McKinnon.

My address is David Stone, 51 Parkland Drive, Unit D4
Halifax, NS, Canada, B3S 1M2.

David-

Adding Al Parrish is almost enough for me to re-arrange my early September tour of the UK. I do miss Tanglefoot.

Vince Morash is also a fine singer and songwriter.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

I gave Richard Grainger the link to your web site. I know its a bit late for him to arrange/attend this year. Hopefully he'll be able to attend next year. He's a bit of a workaholic when it comes to festivals (not just organising them himself but playing at as many as he can).
I think he had a good time/stay with us while he attended the Millrace Festival :)

John-

If you become a member here, I'll send you his e-mail address by PM. I'd rather not post it, or mine, on an open forum.
