Well according to Wikipedia, whilst Frederick Weatherly wrothe the words in 1910, he modified them to fit "Londonderry Air" in 1913.

To my mind it's the combination of words and tune that makes it, so I think we need to wait another 3 years before a 'proper' nod towards it's centenary is made.

Danny Boy is 100 years old this month.
I don't care to listen to it that often. But leaving aside my personal issues and baggage, I still think it is a great melody and the lyrics are no less corny than 'Galway Bay' or 'Kathleen'.
So happy birthday Danny.
