Karen & I will be holidaying in Norfolk & Suffolk later this month,as soon as the school holidays start, ie in about another 2 weeks time. Initially,we shall be staying near to Bury St Edmunds, probably for four or five days, before moving on to ,I think,Cressingham in Norfolk, from where I shall investigate the former RAF Oulton & RAF Horsham St Faith ( I am a member of RAF 100 Group Association). Anyway, we shall be in need of a "fix" at some point, so what's on in East Anglia, anyone ??

Tha Blaxhall Ship in Suffolk has a longstanding reputation as a folk venue:

Then there's the East Anglian Traditional Music Trust which might be worth a look see:

For your present and future convenience, our local 'round the room' stalwart Steve Wassell puts out a monthly list for Suffolk, by email: if you ask him nicely on stephen.wassell @btinternet.com, I'm sure he'd forward it to you. There are one or two 'one-off' evenings coming up which should be worthwhile.

The Waveney Folk Club in Lowestoft has been going for many years and is a fine, traditional club.

You are spoilt for choice really!

If you are in Bury St. Edmunds on 30th July, then there is a singer's night at the MilkMaid Folk Club (Google will find all the details).

In August, 1st Tuesday of the month there is a song session at the Greyhound in Flempton, just outside Bury to the West, on the 2nd Tuesday there is a Celtic instrumental Music Session in the King's Head, Mendlesham (off the A140)and on the 2nd Wednesday there is a song session at the Bull Inn in Woolpit to the East of Bury (off A14). If you are still around by the 3rd Monday there is a song session in The Dove, Hospital Road, Bury (quite near the centre).

If you want more details of Norfolk music sessions then pm me and I'll let you know what's on and who to contact!

Best wishes,

Peter
