Rothbury are listed as holding a festival on the 16th of July 2010.
Does anyone know if this is still feasible in view of the recent tragic incidents which have occured there lately?
I would assume not as police investigations will take many weeks.
Cheers
P

According tomebody on Footstompin, it IS going ahead.

They can hardly shut down the shole town for weeks just to investigate a crime.

Everyone I know round here (20 miles from it) is assuming it'll go ahead.

Is it my imagination or was Alistair Anderson once heavily involved with organising the Rothbury Festival ?

I don't see his name on the committee list so presumably he is no longer involved, if in fact he ever was ..

Alistair retired from the committee a few years back, having been its long term organiser. This year's committee is very local, and (I'm told) wishes to promote primarily local music - one of the things that made it distinctive for many years.

I know someone who is at the Brinkburn Priory Classical Music Festival. She was a bit worried about going. Don't know if the sad events there interrupted this festival, in anyway.

I spoke to one of the organisers this morning (Monday 12th July), it's most definitely on.

Can anyone tell me where the caravan / campervan site is for Rothbury. I believe it's on the cattle market car park but I can't locate that on the O.S. map.

Ta,

John

It's the next turn left after the lane down to the auction mart, as you drive up the hill past the Coquetvale - "behind" the Mart, as it were (but higher up). On the road into the Industrial Estate where Moat's car was found.
It's a good place: we used it several years in a motorhome some years back as it was handy, but you do/did need self-contained facilities.

Thanks for your prompt reply Paws,

Unfortunately I've not been to Rothbury before so I don't know the places you mention. I've looked on googlemaps without much joy.

OK, sorry.

Find the bridge over the river going south - more or less in the centre of the village, that should be on a map.
It's called Bridge St, and it's the B6342. Go over the bridge and bend left (Station Road).
About 100 yards up on the RH side is the Coquetvale Hotel and almost dead opposite is the steep lane that leads down to the Auction Mart (the main Sat eve. venue)
Just past this there's a left hand turn into an industrial estate, and the cattle market area is just there on the left. I assume that's what they're using.

I can find all this on Google maps by centring on the bridge.
If you do a search on "Wagtail Road, Rothbury", Morpeth, Northumberland NE65 7PQ, UK, it should come up.

HTH
Paws - I'll be in the Coquetvale Sat eve.

Very helpful indeed, thanks!

We may well see you in the Coquetvale.
