I called this 'Folklore', but it might be a BS thread....

I notice that the word Sourdough is even used by some Folkies for the overtones ... :-)

Sourdough bread has a long held place in some cultures (hence my choice of a Folklore tag), because it is supposed to be 'good' for us, but it is becoming more common that it is being faked - and sold to us at a higher ripoff price - by just adding 'flavourings' to 'normal' bread dough.

Apparently it is claimed that the dough has a natural antibiotic property, hence the commercial need for money making ripoffs to con us... :-)

WOW! Aussie TV has apparently Googled this 'scandal' and now is trying to make a big sensation stirring fuss about it... sigh....

Yeah, that and the fact that Gabby Hays, the original sourdough, was nothing like that. He had a beautiful singing voice and his son went on to become Michael Jackson after he washed the shoe polish off his skin.

What tangled webs we weave!

Curley Fletcher, who wrote "The Pot Wrassler," was a contemporary of Gabby Hayes.
The subject of that poem was good at sorting the rocks from the beans- I think a couple he tossed out hit Art on the head-
