Thanks for posting your song, synbyn.

I was watching the world cup at a cafe the other day and realized for the first time how irritating the vuvuzelas are.

The people blowing them are utterly implacable, aren't they?

I was tempted to see if Sainsbury's were selling any off cheap. Might be a good accompaniment to Slim Harpo's King Bee. (A great song, if entomologically unsound).

If you go to Youtube and type in "Rose Scented Glasses" it will come up fairly near the beginning.

Lovely !!   I too was on the Log (and on the piss) at UD this year, and performed "Prize-winning Hereford Bull",but did not receive the plaudits that I felt my efforts deserved !!

The "Wobbly Log of Upper Dicker" award will yet rival the Oscars, Bob. Yet I can see imaginations working overtime for people who don't know what we're on about.

A worthy winner - great song - worthy of the log thought I'd add this one, aslo performed at UD this year (Suswegians say U.D rather like Americans L.A)

In response to many requests, and as it's going to have a short shelf life, here are the lyrics to the vuvuzela song:

What shall we do with the vuvuzela
Now our World Cup's doomed to failure
What shall we do with the vuvuzela
Hornin' in the mornin'

Vu Vu Vuvuzela x3
Hornin' in the mornin'

Use it for a spaghetti storer
Fob it off on Auntie Flora
Say it's an ethnic rainbow pourer:

Wear it with a strap and nothing else on
Stick on a flag and wave it for Nelson
Make like a morris man, slap some bells on:

Toot it if you're feeling dandy
Blow bubbles in your pint of shandy
Keep it by your bed, it'll come in handy:

Honk at all those spivs and bankers
Who ate the pies and drank like tankers...

(spoken)

I couldn't think of a third line, but I'm sure you can...:

You can guess the original tune (trad)... the lyrics came to me in a flash on a train, barely recommended...It did win me the prestigeous Wobbly Log of Upper Dicker award, though, and was first performed at the Tilmanstone Folk Day.... and subsequently as a South African translation at the Faversham Folk Club-

Bob Kenward
