Just a word of thanks to all those people who have come along to perform or just listen at the club since the band took over. We have been blessed with full & sometimes overfull attendance at the club since Oct last. The place really buzzes on club nights now.

Due the renewed interest the Guest programme will commence again on Mar16th when long time friend of the band Guisborough based Ray Thom will be closing the night for us. Please continue to come along & help us make the P & G a place to hear great Acoustic music.

Angie, martin & Phil aka BROADBAND

P.S We've finally knocked the Myspace back into shape for all our many readers

As many Myspace users will already know, the powers that be at Myspace have yet again been tinkering with its format much to the chagrin of its many users. The P & G Myspace has not been immune & finds itself with a much less attractive & informative profile than originally set up. With the possiblity of further "innovations" at Myspace the club has set up a new website www.potandglassfolkclub.co.uk over which it can hopefully excercise more editorial control. The club will continue to use its Myspace but will concentrate on its website as the main vehicle to convey information about the club & its events.

I find many of the options at MySpace unnecessary or incomprehensible and they keep changing it. I find Friend stamps on my card I have never heard of! Once in a while I look at it and weed them out but hope I don't offend anyone who thinks I should know them.
Thanks to Mudcat for keeping things simple.
And back on thread thanks to Ann for Mcing and keeping things going at the P&G

The P & G myspace email isn't working properly at the moment & consequently wont accept friends. Once resolved the myspace will be happy to accept friends from the folk world

John,

I couldn't befriend them from the KFFC MySpace page either. They have their MySpace permissions set to exclude "band" profiles from befriending them. Most people have "band" profiles.... that I know at least.

We'll still try and get over at some point though.

Paul

I had a look at the MySpace site and was going to comment that it's easy to park at the other side of the Church and walk through the churchyard. The Myspace site wouldn't let me post a message unless I was a friend so I tried that but it wouldn't let me be a friend!
Having started this thread I remain happy to have P&G as a friend should they change their mind. JHW MySpace

Local folk group BROADBAND were due to Guest at the club in October. After hearing that Graham had left the club BROADBAND contacted the remaining regulars. With their agreement BROADBAND will be taking on the role of band in residence & will honour their commitment to guest in October (albeit for no fee).

BROADBAND (www.myspace.com/broadbanduk) hope to lift the profile of the club & return it to its once highly regarded position in the folk club scene.

We hope to see as many visting singers & musicians to the club as space will allow, to join with stalwarts of the club to get the club humming again.

Angie, Martin & Phil aka BROADBAND

P.S with the aim of raising the profile, the club now has its own myspace www.myspace.com/thepotandglassfolkclub where future events & information will be posted

Glad to hear all that, John.
Shame I'm not living closer at hand otherwise I'd be there each month too.
Best of luck, hope to see you one time soon.

Wed July 21st at the Pot & Glass was a canny night with more than a dozen folks. Fred Brierley did us a couple of grand spots as had been booked for the night, cancelled but volunteered to turn out anyway.
No-one wanted to be permanent MC or club organiser but half a dozen would MC as reqd so it was always covered.
This means for the foreseeable the club will continue on the Third Wednesday of the month but be Singarounds only.
Future guests Fox Corner and Broadband will alas be contacted and stood down.
It may just be possible to squeeze a snippet in the next 'Folk Roundabout' to tell this tale and indeed to note thanks for all the work Graham had long done as organiser and MC.

I am told that Graham the long serving Pot & Glass FC MC has left the building so what will happen is uncertain. I guess my neighbour was hoping I'd volunteer to take over.
I doubt many P&G regulars are catters but if you know it or are curious do get down to this month's evening on WEDNESDAY 21st JULY.
The P&G FC meets on the Third Wednesday of each month at the Pot & Glass, Egglescliffe. Egglescliffe is a village sandwiched between Eaglescliffe and Yarm on the Tees TS16 9DQ. The pub is at the far end nr the Church. There's always a good selection of real ales.

Next club night WEDNESDAY 21st JULY
