Uhm tragic? Uhm Thanks? hahaha I think I know what you mean. The stories in the songs I sing are tragic tales. Maybe? I hope? haha Thanks and as far as my Fincee I really don't see anything happening tragic there lol. I appreciate it though and I am glad you like the site. I forgot to check on the songs though. I will get back to you on it bc I have to run right now. I know they are a mix of originals and cover songs. You can see my fiancee in the article about the saw on the media page of my site. I have to admit I find her really pleasing to look at :) She maintains the site for me and does a great job.
Thanks

Thanks, I did! So, I see that you are engaged? How very unfortunate. If something tragic should happen, be sure to let me know. I mean, because alot of your music seems tragic...

Did you write all of the songs that you have Mp3s for? I have heard a few different versions of St. James Infirmary...so I know that it is a cover, but what about the rest?

No I am too uncordinated for that I will let someone else handle that part haha. The last gig in Paducah I had Belly Dancers (6 of them), GoGo Dancers, Tatoo contests, uhm I can't really remember what all. It was really wild and fun. They said that was the biggest crowd to have ever been to that club ever. That is pretty good because they really turn out good in Paducah for gigs. It was well over 300 people I mean well over it. Never heard the official count but for the size of the club it was really good. They were having to turn people away at the door. I walked out to my truck and saw there was still a line even though they were turning people away.

Bloody marvellous! :0)

That is one of my fav quotes of his. I had it as my status on FB one time. Love it :)

Ron I am going to be taking some of this free time I have coming up in the next few weeks to write. A guy contacted me about doing a music video for Graveside Wedding. I told him I would love to but not sure the time frame yet. The guy is a filmaker that has taped me at several live gigs. He took an interest in me a few months back and has really got into my music and live gigs. My shows have gone pretty theatrical and almost Carnival like in some aspects. Just having fun with it but it is really creating a stir haha. I will be more specific when I call you bro haha.

Lizzie I am glad you like the site. I really enjoy your posts on facebook. I always check out everything you post on there. Thank you for the support. It really means alot to me.

well wouldn't that be spoken word on the most primary instrument of all ?

JT...a buddy of mine from BC reminded me of a quote today from another Kentuckian...

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."    Hunter S. Thompson

Ron, you can only go instrumental if you use your words! :0)

JT...hey, now that's a lovely site. Good to see you back on Mudcat, and great to read your lively and happy bubblings..

'Thunder Thieves' was well rec'd in Mohawk Territory last week-end, JT.
They cranked it thru the sound system and it sounded great. Hadn't heard it in awhile....
Gave away a few copies, and the folks were real happy to get it. Down to my last 2 copies and have to get more printed along with 'Falling Forward'
Big Michael Harris is at Ben's studio tonight laying down guit./voice for 'Crescent City'... that riverboat song I started on the Green River.
He edited some and put his touch to it. It'll be a good one.
Not sure which direction I'll be taking next. It's been a busy couple of years, production and writing... Bruce suggested that I do something barebones... while I'm thinking instrumental along the lines of 'Djilia',
plus there are things we did in the can....and the 'Infamous Duets' project...
in any case, it's good to take a breather, see what pulls me the most.. main thing is to stay healthy... without that, well, you know

all the best in your varied adventures... hi to Savannah

Savannah just added a press page on there that has a few articles up. This is totally a work in progress thing haha.

Thanks olddude it is great to hear from you as well. I have been on the go so much I haven't had time to do much. I am happy to be back. I have been going through and reading the posts. Missed Mudcat and everyone on it. I think I am going to put a link to MC on my website. I am going to have to wait for Savannah to get back though. She knows all about that kind of stuff. I have no clue about it haha. We are going to be working on a Thunder Thieves page as well pretty soon. For the past 3 months or so we have been pretty much living in my truck. Now time to play catch up on other projects. When we get the Thunder Thieves page up and going I will post a link to it on here.

Things are starting to slow down a little. I always have a cool down in July for some reason. I may be starting a couple of movie projects. Writing, acting, and scoring so this is new ground for me. I have had a walk on role in a movie but never really acted haha. I have scored movies but never written one. I mean that is all a new development after a fim maker contacted me last night so going to see where it goes. I have been playing with several bands as a hired guitarist plus doing a bunch of solo gigs and radio shows. Still in the talking stage of writing a book with Larry Cohen in LA about the development of Thumbpicking and Bluegrass in Western Ky. I took a spell where I was going to Rosine KY (The home of Bill Monroe) and hanging out. It is only about 30 miles or so from me. Trying to get a feel and learn more from the locals. Ron Bankley and I started Thunder Thieves 2 this past Spring so keep an eye and ear open for that. I am going to be recording a Rockabilly CD with a band from Paducah KY coming up as well. They asked me about a month ago and it is going to be a cool project. I will be on more now things are slowing down some. Great to hear from everyone again. I have missed getting on here and hearing from everyone. Mudcat is still my fav site and it is good to be back.

I am Beer. I am having a blast and doing it all on my terms. I have several projects under way. One will benefit the community in alot of ways plus promote our folk music. I really hope I can get the program going. I have some support from some people that can help make it happen. If it goes through I will announce it on here. I just started this week working on it but already have some important backers. Trying hard to promote acoustic and folk music. I am happy that I am getting the support for it. We all need to do our best to keep it going. Make people proud of the music our ancestors made and not just buy into the corporate bs that has become so pervasive. Okay off my soap box haha. Thank you I appreciate it.

Thank you Savannah has really been working on it hard. There is an article I am going to be posting about Savannah playing the saw. I am really proud of her. She played two gigs with me this past month. I am going to be posting some of the radio shows I have done lately and she is playing on some of them. As soon as I can get the mp3's. I will also be posting upcoming gigs and things like that. This is new territory for us so it is trial and error haha. Thank you and I am glad you liked it.

Thought I would jump on here and say hi to all my friends on here I haven't talked to in a while. I have a new web page that is still under construction but getting there. I will add the link below. Hope everyone on here is doing good and I am glad to see the site still going strong.
