Subject: Halfway Rock From: Brian Date: 17 Aug 99 - 12:04 PM Does anyone know of a song about Halfway Rock, the rock off Marblehead that marks the halfway distance from Gloucester to Boston? Someone I know said he heard it sung on a PBS show years ago. Thanks |

Subject: RE: Halfway Rock From: Walter Corey Date: 18 Aug 99 - 04:15 PM Thanks MMario, I wrote the song out in Word 6 with the break tags asked for. Then I cut and pasted it to the reply page. I added more break tags because lines still seemed too long. When I hit submit none of the breaks made it. I obviously left out an important step. Could you enlighten me. Thanks |
Subject: RE: Halfway Rock From: MMario Date: 18 Aug 99 - 04:47 PM It is the infamous "line break" problem... MudCat displays the messages in HTML - which does NOT read the line breaks of a normal word processor. Instead it wants to see (less than sign)BR(greater than sign). I myself haven't figured out yet how to show this in a message... you can do a search and replace for each line break to add the line break and the HTML code. Search the forum for HTML over the last few weeks and you should get a better explanation. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Halfway Rock From: GUEST,dkelley Date: 22 Nov 14 - 03:35 AM Big Jim SPAT on halfway rock. And I think the words are: I think it's a "proper" penny tossed . . "Tis fair would be in stock and trade if a penny spent is a dollar made and fair we're sure of a penny saved for the man at halfway rock. The last line might be "This penny tossed is a fortune saved by the man at Halfway Rock". |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Halfway Rock From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 22 Nov 14 - 10:56 AM I've made a MIDI from the abc above and will send it in for posting here. It's a good tune with lots of Am. It would be great song for Talk like a Pirate Day. Click to Play (joeweb) |
