Hi all, my first post. Hoping this is the most recent Lammas/Lughnasadh post, though 2010 isn't very recent.
I have just finished producing a short radio programme for Lammas, for our local non-commercial community radio station, Soundart Radio in Devon. If anyone would like to listen, its available free here:

The Stixwould Harvest Song is very nice, I found the lyrics. It looks traditional, but does anybody know if it is, or if it was written by Bill Whaley and Dave Fletcher? I see they sing it on "Old Men and Love Songs".

Yes, an interesting ambiguity. The query could mean "I am looking for English songs, but it doesn't matter if they are Irish Scottish or Manx, that would be just as nice". Or does it mean "I am looking for what I have been told are called "Celtic Songs" so they can be Scottish, Irish or Manx. But not, heaven forbid, English". Personally, I would have a look at Cornish and Welsh songs too and, yes, even English ones as well.

There is a great one about the cranberry harvest in Washington early 1900s, written I think as a poem by someone who was in it..pouring down rain..I put a tune to it but can't remember it but if someone wants the words then pm me. mg

Why was I thinking the OP thought songs from Ireland, Scotland or Isle of Man would be fine as well as the English songs that would be sure to be forthcoming? Hopeless Anglophilia on my part, I spoze.

I would guess that every culture which has a harvest has harvest songs. The OP appears to be specifically looking for songs from Ireland, Scotland or Isle of Man.

I bet there are lots in Polish etc. but we (those of us who do not speak Polish, Ukranian, Swahili etc.) do not know them.

which gives a list of them. They are almost all in English, but some have Celtic influence. The list gives where you can find the lyrics and the music written down (rarely at the same place), and, where I could find them, recordings of them.

I'll be interested in any you can find too!
I am especially looking for the music to
Harvest Morn (the lyrcs are on the Legendary Dartmoor site)
and "When Roger and Nell...." or whatever, a dance song with the chorus "Harvest Home".
