This is for real. Now I know you folks know who the first two are so I will let you serf the net in case you haven't heard of Tom Ghent. Please check out his "My Space" site. All happening on September the 4th. at our coffee house located in Quebec Canada. So in case you are wondering what to do with your spare time, come on over and spend it with friends. Amos, Spaw, Bobert, Raptor and all you other wild coyotes get off your horses and rent a car and come on up. I promise you won't have to sleep in an igloo. In fact I would find a spot for you all.
Adrien

p.s. I'm also starting this thread early in case there is someone who is wondering what to do with their time and looking for a place to go to.

Forgot to mention that there will be two shows. The afternoon one at 2. This will be story telling by the three rebels along with a few songs. The evening performance will be mostly songs.

Tom has a gig in Boston on Aug. 28th. He told me where but I forget. I'll find out and let y'all know in case anyone's near Beantown..
I had the crazy notion that since he's going that far north from TN he might as well keep going to Canada and hook up with us. He hasn't seen Bruce since the Village days.. so that'll give you a clue about how old they really are ! Anyhow I`ve had the good fortune of recently hanging out with both of them, but not at the same time... so we`re all looking forward to this beaucoo.

Thanks Adrien and Danny for helping make this happen....

Busy day. Played music all afternoon. Lots of fun.
Gnu, Bruce can come in free as long as he is not caught coming in the back door. Dan, I agree, three greats. Should be a wonderful afternoon followed by an evening of songs. Maybe some other time Dan. I should have mentioned when I posted that Ron is the one that made this show possible. So thanks Bud.

I agree Bobad. The only solution I know is to Right Click and save the picture. They you can open it up in the file you put it in and blow it up. I guess "Blow it up" is not exactly the correct thing to say.

Just going by Bruce's "Matters of the Heart", and Ron's "Insurgent Sun", I would have been more apt to expect "Blow It Up" as a disc from Ron; but maybe Bruce is going for a change of pace with the next one. Whichever way he goes, I'll be looking forward to it.

Inflatable sheep, huh; I assume that's for the beach and swimming pool, of course.

I've heard Tom's version of 'Sunday Morning'... bare bones, voice and guitar and it sure brings that song full circle. Often, we hear a great song so many times over the years, different versions, that we tend to forget how powerful the work really is... Tom's take reminds me of the first time I heard the song on the radio by Johnny Cash in the wee hours
One of those special moments.... 'Wishin' Lord that I was stoned"

it's going to be a good time all around....

That song is a great song, but the feeling of it doesn't come across with an orchestral arrangement or even a band. It's a song about feeling ragged and lonely, and that works best with one singer and the words, with a minimum of accompaniment. In my opinion.

Isn't that The song that got Cash interested in Kristofferson?

I expect the gig will be one to remember.

you're right Jeri, the 2 shows won't be the same... there'll be more story telling at the earlier one, interspersed with a few songs...
at night there'll be more songs interspersed with a few stories and jokes...

we didn't want to make it too complicated, besides Bruce might be tired from the long commute to the Cafe...

and don't forget those 2 old boys haven't seen each other in about 40 yrs... and that's a lot of bridge under the water ! I'm just glad to be part of it..

It is not that she can't sing for I have heard her. It's just that Jeri is not part of the program for our Saturday special. However, I expect that she will step up Friday night at the Coffee House and sing at the open mike which runs from 6:45 to 8:25. Then it is the feature musicians for the evening.

Full house. What can I say. Three exceptionally great performers all in one room. They started on time (being 8 p.m.) and didn't want to quit come 10:30 however all good things do come to a closure.
The audience were as good as the musicians. In this case, for two and a half hours it was quiet as a mouse. That is until their song ended. Then the applause lifted the roof.
It was very special to have Mike Regenstreif and his wife present. As some of you may know that it was Mike that booked Bruce for the first opening of the "Golemn(sp.)Coffee House" that he ran in the 60ties. I hope I have that right Mike? Bruce was in great form this evening and as I looked around I was not surprised to see so many in the audience singing to the chorus of his songs. Thanks Buddy.

I got home about 15 minutes ago but those boys I think will be picking and grinning till the wee hours. Ron put on his usual. Which was a mesmerizing aw striking guitar and voice performance. Tom's songs blew everyone away. He also brought tears to some of the folks including myself.

Thank you Tom for stopping by in this little hick town south west of Montreal. You will be spoken about for a long time. Best wishes in your continued travels and at this point I will also wish you have a great time next week when you meet up with my brother Norman for an evening of song.

Hi Adrien,

Special thanks to you and Danny for putting on the special event. It was great to be there.

I took over the Golem in May 1974, about a year after it opened. Bruce was the first artist I invited to play there and his three nights were the first weekend I ran there.

I started my first concert series in Montreal in 1972 at Dawson College. Bruce was also the first artist invited to play that series and he headlined the first concert in November 1972.

I just got home.

I thought the show was gonna be good, and I mostly hate to be wrong about stuff like that. In this case, I'm glad I was wrong--it wasn't good, it was GREAT!

The cafe was packed in the evening. Friday, it had been a steam bath, but cooled off for the 'Three Amigos' show. I don't even think extreme heat would have discouraged us audience members though. The played in a round-robin format which I thought let the friendship and mutual respect burnish the performances. Songs, lots of 'em, held us spellbound. You guys all done great!

I have a lovely poster from the evening, signed by all the guys. It even has some art work, perpetrated by, I think, Tom. (I don't think Bruce looks that good with a mustache.)

Thanks to Tom, Bruce and Ron, to Adrien & Danny for getting this this thing together so these guys could smile on (and sing with) their brothers.

I'm going to sleep for a whole day...

The daytime show involved stomping feet, a just barely audible to me English to French translation, waitress-going-by noises, and me moving the mic around noises. I would have been better off setting the recorder down someplace more remote. I have to say that none of these sounds bothered me, so maybe they won't be an issue on the recording.

The night show I got for Tom on his recorder will be better, even with the traffic. The audience was about as quiet during the songs as I'd imagine a packed house could be.

For the record, my criticism of my recording was due to me only. Everybody who has ever recorded anything from their seat and picked up every extraneous sound near them, including themselves singing along, knows what I mean. I haven't one tiny little thing about the way the shows were run to complain about, and everything to praise. I'm still buzzing with the music and the amazing vibes of this event at Café NamasThé.

Just to let all of you know, I LOVED that gig!!!! Everyone was wonderful!!!!! As for Jeri's recording of the evenings 2nd show....It came out GREAT!!! The cafe should be selling copies of the 2 evening performances, and possibly the afternoon as well, but I haven't heard that yet....Jeri's sending it to me! I have both the evening sets on 2 cds....I'll see that they are available, if it's cool with Ron, Bruce, and the cafe! What a wonderful day that was!!!!Thanks, Adrien, Donnie, Ron, Bruce, Mandy, Jeri, Brenda from "media magic", the wonderful folks from the cafe, and especially all the friends and neighbors who came out, listened, cheered us on, and made it all so special!!! God bless you! I'd love to do it again! I'll have my people talk to your people! lol!!!!!

And yes, Ad, I'm sure Ron's performance was superb! He plays that "inflatable guitar" like no one else ever has!!!

Great to hear from you Tom. Can you put me in touch with your Norway connection? I have a couple of chaps that would blow the ceiling off any gig. They played for the café last Tuesday evening as a stop over on a Canadian tour. It would be for 2011 in September.
I'm still waiting for the Video of your afternoon performance and I should be hearing soon from him. I will hold true to my promise of sending you a copy as soon as I get it.
Adrien

I'll be sending Tom the un-diddled stuff I recorded. Then HE can diddle it. I'll send it to Bruce, but Tom's output will likely be better than what I can manage.

Ad, I noticed who was playing, and almost snuck up there. One of these days, I WILL hear them. Y'oughtta do the Trés Amis show at least every year!

Oh me oh me oh my,.!!!!
I have three DVD's of the afternoon and a bit of the evening performance of these boys. Eat your heart out. I think i will keep them for myself. Ha! ha!

Now I have to find somebody who can burn them and then i will send them out to the boys. Well for Bruce i will personally deliver them to him. They are raw but for us folks I would say not bad at all.
Hopefully all will get a visual of the concert soon.
Ad.

They have to be viewed first by the boys and have their approval if they don't mind it being distributed. I'm sure all will understand.

ha, ha... that reminds me of the Michael Franks song 'Popsicle Toes'

"You got the nicest North of America this sailor has ever saw ,
I'd like to feel your warm Brazil and touch your Panama
but Tierra del Fuegos are nearly always froze.
We've got to see-saw until we unthaw those popsicle toes"

nice chord changes on that one...
