Subject: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: Beer Date: 24 Jul 10 - 10:25 PM This is for real. Now I know you folks know who the first two are so I will let you serf the net in case you haven't heard of Tom Ghent. Please check out his "My Space" site. All happening on September the 4th. at our coffee house located in Quebec Canada. So in case you are wondering what to do with your spare time, come on over and spend it with friends. Amos, Spaw, Bobert, Raptor and all you other wild coyotes get off your horses and rent a car and come on up. I promise you won't have to sleep in an igloo. In fact I would find a spot for you all. Adrien p.s. I'm also starting this thread early in case there is someone who is wondering what to do with their time and looking for a place to go to. |

Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: GUEST,bankley Date: 25 Jul 10 - 09:01 AM Tom has a gig in Boston on Aug. 28th. He told me where but I forget. I'll find out and let y'all know in case anyone's near Beantown.. I had the crazy notion that since he's going that far north from TN he might as well keep going to Canada and hook up with us. He hasn't seen Bruce since the Village days.. so that'll give you a clue about how old they really are ! Anyhow I`ve had the good fortune of recently hanging out with both of them, but not at the same time... so we`re all looking forward to this beaucoo. Thanks Adrien and Danny for helping make this happen.... really nice poster btw |

Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: Beer Date: 25 Jul 10 - 07:51 PM Busy day. Played music all afternoon. Lots of fun. Gnu, Bruce can come in free as long as he is not caught coming in the back door. Dan, I agree, three greats. Should be a wonderful afternoon followed by an evening of songs. Maybe some other time Dan. I should have mentioned when I posted that Ron is the one that made this show possible. So thanks Bud. ad. |

Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: bobad Date: 09 Aug 10 - 10:08 PM Nice design work BTW. |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: Beer Date: 09 Aug 10 - 10:09 PM I agree Bobad. The only solution I know is to Right Click and save the picture. They you can open it up in the file you put it in and blow it up. I guess "Blow it up" is not exactly the correct thing to say. Ad. |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: bobad Date: 09 Aug 10 - 10:15 PM I still can't read the fine print when doing that Ad. Do you have any sizing options when uploading to Picasa? |

Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: Beer Date: 10 Aug 10 - 04:30 PM Yep!, I did it on purpose just to p... you off. ad. |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: GUEST,bankley Date: 11 Aug 10 - 04:32 AM Beer ,I like 'blow it up'.. that could be the name of Bruce's next CD, but no connection to my inflatable sheep great work guys |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: frogprince Date: 11 Aug 10 - 10:34 AM Just going by Bruce's "Matters of the Heart", and Ron's "Insurgent Sun", I would have been more apt to expect "Blow It Up" as a disc from Ron; but maybe Bruce is going for a change of pace with the next one. Whichever way he goes, I'll be looking forward to it. Inflatable sheep, huh; I assume that's for the beach and swimming pool, of course. |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: GUEST,bankley Date: 20 Aug 10 - 09:48 AM but of course....whatever else, except in Scotland for anyone in the Boston area, Tom will be playing at Sally O'Brien's Pub on Aug 28 with a bass player friend. He'll have a new CD. Actually a compilation of work mostly from the 60's |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: Beer Date: 20 Aug 10 - 10:37 PM Here is some information on Tom and other's up coming concerts. He will be performing with brother Norman as well. Norm is very excited. ad. http://www.mi2n.com/press.php3?press_nb=133096 |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 21 Aug 10 - 03:10 AM That *is* a lovely poster, Adrien...I hope the concerts all go well. I'm sure everyone's going to have a great time! Love to them all.. Lizzie :0) x |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: GUEST,bankley Date: 21 Aug 10 - 09:03 AM I've heard Tom's version of 'Sunday Morning'... bare bones, voice and guitar and it sure brings that song full circle. Often, we hear a great song so many times over the years, different versions, that we tend to forget how powerful the work really is... Tom's take reminds me of the first time I heard the song on the radio by Johnny Cash in the wee hours One of those special moments.... 'Wishin' Lord that I was stoned" it's going to be a good time all around.... |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: Jeri Date: 21 Aug 10 - 09:40 AM That song is a great song, but the feeling of it doesn't come across with an orchestral arrangement or even a band. It's a song about feeling ragged and lonely, and that works best with one singer and the words, with a minimum of accompaniment. In my opinion. Isn't that The song that got Cash interested in Kristofferson? I expect the gig will be one to remember. |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: GUEST,999 Date: 21 Aug 10 - 10:43 AM Just when is this thing. |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: Jeri Date: 21 Aug 10 - 10:46 AM September 4th at 2 and 8. You should go. |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: Jeri Date: 21 Aug 10 - 10:53 AM I gather the 2PM show will involve talking and reminiscing, and the 8PM show will be mostly music, so both are not the same. |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: GUEST,bankley Date: 21 Aug 10 - 11:54 AM you're right Jeri, the 2 shows won't be the same... there'll be more story telling at the earlier one, interspersed with a few songs... at night there'll be more songs interspersed with a few stories and jokes... we didn't want to make it too complicated, besides Bruce might be tired from the long commute to the Cafe... and don't forget those 2 old boys haven't seen each other in about 40 yrs... and that's a lot of bridge under the water ! I'm just glad to be part of it.. |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: Beer Date: 21 Aug 10 - 02:50 PM I don't know for sure if Bruce will show up. It is a long walk. ad. |
Subject: RE: Ron Bankley, Bruce Murdoch and Tom Ghent From: GUEST,bankley Date: 21 Aug 10 - 04:26 PM I'd drive him, Beer, but last time I did that, I wanted him to take care of the gas.... so he gave me a can of beans.... |
