Mill Race Festival of Traditional Folk Music

This coming weekend, July 30 - August 1, 2010

This free festival is patterned after European festivals whereby the day's events are held on numerous outdoor stages in the town core. Traditional forms of folk music and dance are the festival's theme, with emphasis placed upon the various cultures present in Cambridge and surrounding area. Arts, crafts, and an excellent choice of food and refreshments are also available at the festival site and from the many fine eating establishments in downtown Cambridge. Local and internationally renowned performers, are selected each year to reflect a most diverse and entertaining mixture of musical cultures.

It is a great festival. I've never missed one. This year? There is so much walking to do and I'm not up to it these days. Maybe I'll just pick one stage and stick to it. I'd really hate to miss it.

Duke,

It looks like I'll be on at the Civic Square and Millrace stages throughout the weekend, at various times. Please say hello if you're there too!

Hope you have a good one. I've been to Millrace three times, not there this year unfortunately. Have a beer for me in the Kiwi.

Rich Arrowsmith

What a gem this festival is. And what a gem Duke is! He made it to all three sessions I was involved in today despite his concerns about the distances between stages. Thanks Duke!

It was a great festival. I listened to a lot of great music. Hearing Dave Ruch for the first time I was very, very impressed. He is a true folk singer for sure. He was right about all the walking. I'm not as spry as I once was, but it was sure worth the trip.

For those who attended the Mill Race Folk Festival, as either a performer or as part of the audience, please feel free to send comments to the organisers (mill_race@yahoo.com). I'm sure they would appreciate the feedback both positive and negative. Its through your comments that keep the festival going (and FREE) plus making improvements.
This was my second year attending, although this year I was one of the many volunteers running around all weekend long.
Words cant really describe this festival or being a volunteer worker for it until you have experienced it. Lots of walking, most definately. Pictureque location, most definately. Incredible musicians, absolutely!!!
Musicians from here in Canada and from across the pond..... Rallion, Dave Ruch, Malinky, Finest Kind, Richard Grainger, Enock Kent, Tethera, to name but a few. Plus there were several Morris Men dance teams there on the Saturday.

Brilliant!!!!

Bring on the 19th Annual Mill Race Festival 2011!!!!

Cheers all,

Russ
