Lots of really good stuff (The Young Uns, Breabach, The Wilsons, Carravick Sisters, Isambarde, Tri, to name just a few) but some very strange/odd programming with concerts that started well but then "dwindled" rather than building up to a good finish. Some of the best stuff was kept well away from the main stage.

Oh, and no-one has mentioned Jeff Warner. He was just lovely - so interesting and funny, and of course talented.

A great festival with a good balance of Trad. and modern. Acts that I caught and enjoyed were, The Wilsons, The Carrivick Sisters, Tyde, King Alfreds Cakes, Steam Chicken Jazz Tour, Demon Barbers, Daimh, Jackie Oates, and The Broadside Mummer's hilarious naughtycal play.

There was loads that I missed but you can't be in two places at the same time.

Generally a great fest. Diamh were exceptional Jackie Oates was in fine voice. some good new talent as well. Missed Tams and Coope as I was compering elsewhere. It was great to see and hear the Great Burlando once more he's still the 'Perry Como' of folk. In one word 'Smart'

Carrivick sister, Blair Dunlop, The Young 'Uns, The Old 'Uns!, Graham Knights, Jim Mageean, Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts Wilsons, GU4 all of mention and seen

Living Tradition and "Song Spot" on the Wff site places to be

Hardly went in the main tent and not much song wise in town (resited to Song Spot) if there was I missed it

Young 'Uns very funny totally off the cuff and impromptu ~ David is a great lad despite his sight problems and it seems that songs about Hartlepool, Stockton and other places are the current in thing. Good to see some trad stuff and shanties from em too, altho novel to sing shanties in harmony ~ but I am a fan (as they know!!)

Hedghog Pie had an amp blow up on stage affecting their time and one or two numbers were omitted regrettably

Dave Burland was very funny as usual and great songs including Dalesmans Litenay to Lakes of Ponchatarain tune! I had heard once before

Carrivicks musicianship great with contemporary songs largely

Jamie and Kat brill ~ Jamie on his way (I reckon) to become the new Seth Lakeman, great music and looks! and Kat can talk for Britain!

O and a visit from Kate Rusby and family to look around!

Ray

It certainly did. (Hello, Graham!)As last year, there was a crop of excellent young groups and Shergar was accompanying one of the dance sides.I always enjoy wandering round and feel the town welcomes the festival-goers.Particularly enjoyed a group called Tyde on Friday eve.Am not keen on excessive volume from some bands but the general atmosphere was very buoyant.

Yep, if you missed Alan Day/Will Fly at the Millwright Arms on Saturday you certainly missed two great performers. Their session was run with great enthusiasm and very inclusive of all present. We enjoyed it immensely. It's such gems that makes Warwick a great festival.

The Wilson Family were excellent as usual, but particularly their concert spot Saturday on the main stage brilliant, the Youngun's and Dave Burland were great, but Hedgehog Pie were a bit disapointing on Sunday. Great festival! well done to one and all.

The strong rumour Graham that it will be the English System Concertina.
There was some nice Dance teams there on display in Town Centre and at the site. The Town was packed watching the Dance events.
Although I have been to Warwick a number of times for the Festival, as Will and I were booked in the town it gave me a chance to see it properly for the first time, what a fantastic place to visit, lovely parks , stunning Castle and Historic buildings ,I shall be going back for another visit to spend more time there.
It all seemed very well run to me with a lot of very helpful stewards.

There is a strong rumour that concertina will be the featured instrument next year. It was pipes this year, hence the strong preponderance of bands that include various sorts of pipes.

Well, we went (first time for about 15 years) and were generally impressed. We missed the Alan Day/Will Fly session because we were knocking out tunes in the Roebuck at the time.

Guest list well varied and pretty good. Loads of workshops, but none for concertina. Stage sound not bad at all.

Particularly liked the Living Tradition venue - unamplified, and no sound leakage from other venues even with the windows open (other festivals please note).

Several people thought it was the best ever, including me. Loads of choice and a greatly improved site layout. The singaround/session bits in the town + the folk club added to the variety.

It also avoided the extremes of weather (heatwave or thunderstorms) with which it has become associated recently.

Alan Day and I ran a nice little session in the Millwright Arms on Saturday lunchtime as part of the Street Festival. The town was humming with people - performers, musicians, dancers and audience. Yes, I think there was a festival...
