Hi folks,
I made an abc from my memory and I know it's an irish tune, but I can't find the original. Any guesses what this could be

Sounds much more like an English music hall song, but I can't place it.

I've heard some words to it (or to a very similar tune) but can only remember fragments. The second half begins: "It's my old Irish home, far across the foam...."
then later I think there's something along the lines of "no matter where I wander..."
And the last line is "My heart's at home in old Ireland, in the county of Armagh".
That may help you track it down.

Marje

thanks for listening you're right; although I'm relatively sure it was played by the dubliners it doesn't need to irish. It was certainly sort taking the Mickey. I found my source put the words under the abc but I'm still looking for the traditional used

I remember this melody but would like to know what it is.
I first thought it was "Do you want your old lobby washed."
but don't think so anymore. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you very much Marje!
the Title is indeed "The Boys from the County Armagh"
and I sent the the abc with the original lyrics (not
the Brendan Behan Lyrics), so they may be added to the
dbase.
Lots of thanks!

P.S.
If you would like another puzzle
I've added something to this thread.
