Family have requested that we give them a break, and look after 4yr old twins in Queensland in March 2011.
Suspect we'll want a break too!
Before we commit to dates, and organise our flights from NZ etc can anyone let me know what music events might be happening around that time?
If there is a folk festival on somewhere, that would be really fantastic!
Cheers

Whereabouts in Queensland Ana?
The Folk Rag is what most of us use to keep informed around the Brisbane area. Have a look at the links for "date claims", "sessions" and "folk clubs". Folk Redlands is worth keeping an eye on, though they don't have any 2011 listings in their diary yet.

There are not usually any festivals here that I can think of at that time of the year. There is a listing for Mulgowie gathering. That is a jamming weekend, not a festival as such. You would need transport and camping gear for that. The big one for this area is Woodford, between Christmas and New Year, and the next big one is the National Folk Festival in Canberra at Easter.

Feel free to PM me for my email address if Brisbane is the area you're interested in.

Mal

Hey! thanks Mal. We'll be Goldcoasting, so no problem to tag Brisbane onto one side or t'other of our duties.
Looks like the time I can make it over is more Feb/March - just hope it's not tooo hot then. Family say Dec/Jan the worst but I think they're fibbing.
Jamming is good, though must admit it's more listening for me as I'm hopeless on knowing the songs - we do a mix of trad/celtic (guitar & voice).
Cheers

Thanks Sandra, I forgot about the joining requirement to PM.

Ana, Coast Acoustics seems to be quite active in the Nerang area. I don't know anything about them myself though.

You might describe Feb/Mar as rather warm; I'll probably describe it as just nice. ;)
