Subject: RE: Rosalie Sorrels CD Paramount Sire LPs From: ChanteyLass Date: 20 Oct 10 - 10:39 PM Rosalie will be at Stone Soup Coffeehouse in Pawtucket, RI, on April 9. Thomas Cobb, author of Crazy Heart, will talk about his books before she performs. I imagine Rosalie will bring her CDs with her. I have seen her many times at this venue and always enjoyed her songs and stories. |

Subject: RE: Rosalie Sorrels CD Paramount Sire LPs From: Mark Ross Date: 20 Oct 10 - 11:17 AM Talked to Rosalie recently, and she told me that she is getting royalties from the CD's, in fact, she is getting more money from the re-issue than she got from the original recording! Mark Ross |
Subject: RE: Rosalie Sorrels CD Paramount Sire LPs From: GUEST,My, don't we have a lot in common Date: 20 Oct 10 - 12:46 AM So you're a Rasalie Sorrels fan as well. Back in my 20's (a long time ago) I painted the chorus for "Occasional Man" on my living room wall. What can I say? It was the 70's. Mitch Greenhill is still selling albums and CDs (last I heard from him in the '90s, but that great band never did another album. Once I finish the Will Holt project, I'll be moving on to Theodore Bikel and Gula Gill. Any info on existing releases much appreciated. Thanks again, r

Subject: RE: Rosalie Sorrels CD Paramount Sire LPs From: Stewie Date: 12 Aug 10 - 07:23 PM I purchased those some time ago. For those who may be interested, Big Pink have also reissued a couple of early Bill Staines LPs: Bill Staines Self-Titled and Bill Staines 'Somebody Blue'. With the same neat production and packaging, a Japanese label has reissued, under licence from Shanachie, the first Robert Crumb album on Blue Goose that Shanachie did not reissue [It reissued 'Number 2' under the title 'Chasin' Rainbows' and 'Number 3' as 'Singing in the Bathtub' only]: R.Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders' [Blue Goose 2014, 1974] Air Mail Recordings AIRAC 1024. Stefan Wirz's 'American Music' site has a link to this label's website. --Stewie. |
Subject: RE: Rosalie Sorrels CD Paramount Sire LPs From: Thomas Stern Date: 09 Aug 10 - 09:31 PM Sources indicate the two CD's are legitimate. Also have been informed that they were pressed in editions of only 500 copies, so anyone interested in obtaining them should do so promptly. Best wishes, Thomas. |
Subject: RE: Rosalie Sorrels CD Paramount Sire LPs From: Thomas Stern Date: 04 Aug 10 - 05:17 PM These CD's say "by arrangement with Rosalie Sorrels" - which may or may NOT be true. Also, lending some sense of legitimacy, they are distributed in Japan by a Vivid Sound which I think has issued a number of 60's-70's recordings under license from the original producing company. Perhaps I am confusing companies.... If anyone is in contact with Rosalie Sorrels, perhaps you would inquire and let the list know. It is a shame that ALL her albums are not currently available, particularly the first one issued in Salt Lake City by the Festival Records-Columbia Research Group SONGS OF THE MORMON PIONEERS, and Prestige ROSALIE's SONGBAG. Best wishes, Thomas. |
Subject: RE: Rosalie Sorrels CD Paramount Sire LPs From: open mike Date: 04 Aug 10 - 11:08 AM I hope that these are legitimate releases (not pirated editions) and that Rosalie is getting Royalties. |
