Sadly, I'll be working overseas on most of those dates! Slightly hacked off about that, as the Shroppie Fly is fabulous any time but with live music AND a beer festival thrown in.... Any plans for a return to the Romping Donkey in Hassall Green?

The Romping Donkey appears to be concentrating on rock music, disco and karaoke at the moment, although a return by LITM can't be ruled out.

One of our sister bands, Spyder, is there soon.

Many thanks for your interest.

Dave, there is an acoustic jam night on Monday 9th - Lynda is open to it's leading to something more interesting, if anything more interesting raises its head!. A few local acoustic music types will be attending including myself and alanabit who is over here from Germany for a few days.

I'm not sure how you can describe 'The Shroppie Fly' as being in deepest Cheshire. It's only a mile away from Shropshire!

Guest,

You're right of course. In fact for a long time we all thought the pub WAS in Shropshire.
This includes Bob Webb, who has played there in various guises since the place opened.
When I came to look up the pub's address to send them some posters, it turned out to have a CREWE postcode. Which is just plain barmy. It's miles away from that esteemed railway town.
However, the Fox and Hounds IS in deepest Cheshire, being just a few miles away from the famed oak tree in Bostock which is supposed to represent the very centre of our lovely county.
Really, we were just working on the 'one size fits all' principle.
Sorry about the capitals. I'm not shouting, just can't do italics.

Just a little update on ROmping Donkey! I went to a well attended Bluegrassy sort of anything vaguely and remotely folkie session last Monday night - and the 'young' staff made us 'oldies' very welcome, and there is a chance that it may continue every other Monday as an informal 'folkie' session. I'll update Mudcat with more news. Put it this way if all 15 of us hadn't been in they'd have had a very quiet Monday night! (Or did we scare 'em off!!)

I think they may be open to ideas!!
