Subject: Stories about village/brass bands

I am trying to profile the exploits of the Frittenden Band Chaps who played in Kent (and London) in the 1860s. One story goes how they went outon a foggy Christmas in front of a big house, only to find it was a haystack! I gather this story applies to other bands, including one in Sussex in the 1930s. I know of two other Frittednen stories. These appear to have been part of the repertoire of a music hall performer who once holidayed in the village - who he was, I have no idea!

Does any Catter know any aencdotes relating other bands and their not necessarily musical exploits?
