Origins: Jim Ringer Question

Last night I watched a video, on You Tube, on Jim and Mary singing a song called Hard Times. This isn't the Stephen Foster song, though there is a lyrical reference to it. I only have what is available by Jim on cd and it's not on anything I have. Does anyone know if Jim recorded this song on any of his albums? An internet search has only yielded the Foster song and though I did find on old Mudcat thread with the same question from quite a few years back, but no one seemed to have an answer at the time. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, and while I don't know how to make one of those blue link clicky things, it's easy to find on You Tube should you want to watch it, and you should.

How about this: The title seems to be "Waitin' For the Hard Times to Go" available on the album by the same name from our friends at Folk Legacy http://www.folk-legacy.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=85

Thanks for the reply Maeve. Yes, I have that cd and yes it's the famous Jim Ringer song, but not the one in question. I think that if he recorded it at all it must be on one of his out of print records. No luck looking for a useful discography on line. Maybe Mary McCaslin would know... Mary are you out there?

Drat. I knew it was too easy! So there are two different songs sung by Jim Ringer: "Waiting for the Hard Times to Go" and "Hard Times" which is not the Stephen Foster song. Hmmm.

I'll keep an eye out for it.

The hook seems to be

"There'll be a chicken in every pot /
when the hard times come no more /
-- Oh, hard times, come again no more."

That tag line is from the Foster song. The rest of it seems to be a country song, possibly of Jim's creation, and I've never heard it before. I doubt it's available anywhere either. Too bad, it's a nice little song.

Yes, Guest Songbob, that's the other thread discussing the song to which Guest David E. referred and where I posted a link to this thread.

It does seem worthwhile for David E. to contact that thread's originator, Miguel Heatwole, if he can track him down. Perhaps Migues managed to trace it back to confirm Jim's authorship (or not) and/or obtain a copy of the cd to which he refers in that other thread.
