Hi,

Anne and I are coming up to Whitby for the first time in a good few years. Saw the thread on singarounds, thank you very much. We'll try and make some of those. Can anyone point us at any regular sessions, English music in particular but we'll also do French quite cheerfully. Last time we came up Middle Earth seemed to be the main place.

TIA,

Chris

The Elsinore is always a very mixed bag of music, mostly English but also American, French, also Early Music through to ragtime. It tends to get very full, but if you hang around, you can usually get a seat if you are playing.
Quack!

Mary and I are running one at the Con club (I think it's Wednesday afternoon but check...) and that will certainly be a English Music session.

Spare Parts Concertina Band are running one in the Stakesby Arms on Monday afternoon from 5.00 - 7.00 p.m. (event 214).

You'd also be very welcome to our concertina part-playing sessions every morning from Monday to Friday in the Con Club bar; the music is here to download if you want to look at any of it in advance.

Thanks everyone - there's some good leads there. We'll certainly be around for some at least of them, concertinas in hand.

Valmai: we'll very likely come along to the Stakesby Arms, but you know me, I'm not really a parts playing type person (unless Anne wrote it, then I'm under management orders!).

Cheers,

Chris

There tend to be people hoping to play English and Northumbrian tunes, some leavening from the continong wouldn't be out of place, in the front room of the Board Inn, when food isn't being served (food is important for the pub's trade, and it's Regatta weekend too).
Saturday eve and one other evening (I forget which) the 'York crowd' come for a bit and there are old-timey tunes as well.

Some of you might be interested in Keith K's concertina workshops at Whitby. He's doing beginners and intermediate's, as I'm not at home, can't remember which days he's doing what. Same goes for my beginner's duet workshop.
Cheers
Sylvia

422 are running a session at some point - my programme is downstairs so I will check when and post the details, but that will be basically English, probably with a Northumbrian bias.

Music Session @ the Bottom House run by 422 Monday 1 - 3

I also see that Brian Peters is running a session 1 - 3 on Tuesday @ The Fisherman's Rowing Club - I assume that will be mainly English. Perhaps if Brian is looking in he will tell us more.

5 - 7 on Wednesday @ Fisherman's Rowing Club; session run by Windy Gyle Band. That will be Northumbrian and there is likely to be a fair few pipers there. I went to their session last year

It would also be useful if someone could say where "unofficial" sessions are likely to be found.
