It breaks my heart to miss this but I have to be elsewhere for the weekend.

You'll just have to have them back .... how about The Birthday Bash, Paul.
PS - what date is that??

Birthday Bash date is 12 - 14th November. Another great line - up: Jez Lowe, Duncan McFarlane Acoustic Band, Trim Rig & A Doxy (assuming Derek is OK), Acoustica, C13, John & Caroline Bushby and much, much more. Plenty of singaround time, booked floor spots, Real Ale Bar.... etc, etc!

I'd love to have those Hissy Girls and The Young'un lads back for the weekend..... unfortunately the budget only goes so far though.

I do have a sneaky feeling that both acts will be invited back in the not too distant future ........

La Kelly even makes danish pastries, Flapjacks with an extra magic ingredient and the crispiest yet 'melt in the mouth' shortbread. Paul, I suggest you don't eat any tea before we arrive!! - as long as I don't snack excessively whilst driving!
8 days and counting.
H.

Great night lads and lasses!

Superb singing and harmonies.

and then there was this.....

The Younguns with the Young Arrowsmith's!

Is it OK for me to be a proud parent? (.. and where did my son learn that Hartlepool accent??)

Thanks for a superb night.

Paul

It was an absolutely brilliant evening with everyone on fine form. A shining example of a brilliant folk club.

You and Wendy have every reason to be proud Paul. The children were brilliant as well. I know of few youngsters who would sit through a 3hr+ concert and be as well behaved as yours. The vidoe doesn't really do them justice - it was a magic moment, particularly seeing the joy on their faces as the came off stage.

All this malarkey is not helping it's just making me aware of all the fun I'm missing. Still keep it up lads once social services have pulled out a finger or three I might be able to get some rest bite from my 24/7 care job. Still I couldn't be more pleased that you had the great night that I knew you all would have.

Guest is you suggesting that the Young'uns have grown out of their name and due to the competition need an update?

I have just watched a documentary on West Hartlepool and I have to agree all the Hartle Pudlians that I have met over the years are a very friendly bunch and they all have a great sense of community.

I've just been talking to my kids about this thread. They said the Young'uns should keep their name but they (The Arrowsmith brood) would henceforth like to be known as "The Even Younger'uns".

Well, made me giggle anyway!

I suspect that they will remember Saturday night for the rest of their lives.

Seeing as this thread is still up the page I'll preview next month's event....

Bill Adair's "Along The Miners' Rows" + Stan Graham

Saturday 23rd October 7.30pm. Kirkby Fleetham Village Hall, North Yorks, DL7 0SH

Bill presents his amazing song cycle with narrative commemerating the 50th anniversary (in 2009) of the Auchengeich Colliery disaster. Helping him out with this are: John Bushby (Pipes & lots more) Caroline Bushby (Harp & Vocals) & Wendy Arrowsmith Vocals, guitar & lots more) . Bill is a superb singer and guitar player.

also at Cutty Wren F.C. Thurs 23trd Oct

We did a live preview of this during last Saturday's event as we had a good crowd in.

The Miner's Widow's Lament Please have your tissues ready!

Written by Bill Adair and sung by Wendy Arrowsmith, Caroline Bushby on Harp and John Bushby on smallpipes. Bill Adair sitting and looking amazed!
