This thread is running along side the other Chislehurst caves .

Did anyone turn out at the Dive Bar Chislehurst which was a club held in the extended
basement of the Bickley Arms Pub Chislehurst?

If one attended you would know what year I am talking about?
Kind Regards
Pierre

The Dive Bar was well named if this old review from 2004 was anything to go by :-)

"the Bickley Arms, this is a large echoing boozer without atmosphere (and little beer range). Famous for being the pub criticised on-air by a famous radio DJ about 30 years ago. Frequented by Bromley yobs who often resort to fisticuffs and knife-weilding outside"

no - I didn't go there ....

RafflesBear
The Dive Bar was a music club that ceased in the late 1960 s nothing to do with the Bickley arms Pub they provided the premises and the beer the club was a 1960s rocknroll venue,
There again the above discription from the above review although although 44 years out of date is still correct the place was a trouble spot and the venue often spoiled events at the Caves due to the caves having a extended license the Dive Bar lot often tried to Gate Crash the Caves which was not Rock N roll but Jazz and Skiffle.

Regards Pierre

I can recall a pint or so in "The Bickley Arms" and then to the Caves where Paul Simon, and Sandy & Jeannie performed in the early 60`s.

I was a regular there in the late 60s, Dave Gelly was a regular as was my old pal Dave Quincy who was in a jazz/rock band called "If" It was a great venue back then and I have many fond memories, especially the night it flooded after a heavy storm and the band drifted into "Life on the Ocean Wave".

I used to go there in 1969 the summer of '70 with my good friend Frankie G who used to wear a string vest with nothing underneath but hotpants. :D I met a very handsome lad called Paul there, a cross between Mark Bolan and Paul McCartney to look at, I was gobsmacked when he talked to me. Fond memories!

I used to go there every Saturday night for a couple of years starting in 1974. I loved it, although I'm not sure why. I remember 'Tiger Feet' playing the first night I was there. It was a pretty rough place. The DJ was called The Frog. Tbh I remember little else about it, except that it was the place to be if you lived locally and were a teenager.
