"I trust they stay together and play all over the place"

I should have mentioned ... they've very recently gigged in Italy and at this year's Lorient and Pontardawe Festivals; and they'll be featured in the Welsh Showcase at WOMEX this October. They played Cambridge last year and toured with the Quebec group, Genticorum. I know they've done a lot of Festivals in Wales and a few in England, and they also had very good reports following their Shrewsbury schools residency organized by the festival.

And then there's all the stuff they've done which I either can't remember off hand or don't know about.

Lots of time for everyone to book them for next year's festivals ... ! We're all very proud of them.

I agree - I thought they were excellent too - nearly didn't get a seat for the Bellowhead gig as we wanted to see as much of them as possible on Monday afternoon. Lots of charisma - I also love the Old Dance School who we saw first at Ryedale

I think a few of us Welsh have mentioned them from time to time, but you really need to hear them yourself for 'grab-value'.

I think most of them met up on a trac project some years ago and we're all as pleased as a pup with two tails that they've come along so well. Fab kids. (But you might want to go easy on the Bethan/Huw connection. I think Beth is a bit fed up with it ... even tho Huw is the band's manager and instigator.)

Anyway, glad that others think they're as brilliant as we do!

Family connections hey!

We bought the CD and played it all the way home. I cannot understand why more people above didn't mention them.

I know everybody has their favourites. We really enjoyed Adrian & the BS, Bellowhead,Dervish etc. Genticorum, JO & WWB, Michael McG, Mick Ryan & Phil Downes, Tom McC, and all sorts of others and I know it's not a contest but Calan played fresh tunes so well I trust they stay together and play all over the place

Good news Les, you are not alone, Calan were indeed excellent. You may be interested to know that the accordian player is daughter of Huw Williams, (Huw & Tony Williams, Crasdant)

Enjoyed so much at Shrewsbury but I have to say we enjoyed Calan, the young Welsh group, best of all. Fresh, great tunes, great arrangements, lovely singing, clog dancing, unusual instruments - watch this group they are brilliant.

Were we alone?
