Subject: RE: Help with Irish Gaelic Translation From: GUEST,^&* Date: 05 Sep 10 - 05:37 AM "iontach ar fad!" is equivalent to "Excellent!" or, perhaps better, "Wonderful!" i.e. enthusiastic approval. "Réitím" (note the accents - for those who see them correctly given my lazy insertion!) means "I agree", or thereabouts. The usage is a bit colloquial - I reckon the sense is close to "Agreed" - " or "Settled -" . |
Subject: RE: Help with Irish Gaelic Translation From: GUEST,Martin Dardis Date: 03 Sep 10 - 03:07 PM From the Irish to the English it translate to ''I Get On, All Great'' It's a positive comment but the person isn't a great Irish speaker |
Subject: RE: Help with Irish Gaelic Translation From: Fergie Date: 03 Sep 10 - 02:42 PM Hi JedMarum It is a positive comment, it would translate as 'very excellent' Fergus |

Subject: Help with Irish Gaelic Translation From: JedMarum Date: 03 Sep 10 - 12:46 PM A Youtube viewer made this comment on one of my Youtube videos: "Reitím, iontach ar fad!" Now I have my Youtube account set up so that "friend" comments are posted immediately, but if I don't know you, I have to approve your comment. This allows me to keep spammers and nasty folks from posting anything they like. What is this poster saying? Here is the video in question. You'll see it attracted a few negative comments, and I don't mind that - I just don't want ugly stuff up there, even in an obscure language! It looks tame enough - I just can't tell. |
