I've heard tantalising bits of this composition recently but does anyone know when it will be aired on TV in the UK so all of us proud Yorkshire people can hear its premiere and celebrate it in all its true glory?

Probably 1 August 2011 - that's the media for you!

There is this 1994 CD HERE but I sense you are referring to something of a more recent development

Might you mean this wonderful programme.
I heard an interview with the harpist, she made it herself, and because it was longer than standard, she made her own strings from fishing line!
Note Sam Pirt on accordion too!

This is possibly only available in UK, because it's a BBC thing, although it IS on YouTube

The program of the making of The Symphony for Yorkshire composed by Benjemin Till is on BBC iplayer (UK only)untill 13th September 2010. The youtube clip should be there much longer and shows the performance of the score

The Symphony for Yorkshire is due to be shown on September 14 on BBC HD.
The folk song STOW BROW is incorporated.
There is also a great human interest story about how a 98 yr young lady had her poem included in the symphony CLICK

All very informative, but it's not the Song Of Yorkshire by Simon Lindley. I believe there's a separate thread for the Symphony, so let's get the two apart?

OK MoorelyMan. That sounds fine by me.
Sorry I got the two confused. So it is The Symphony for Yorkshire by Benjemin Hill that I meant to broadcast here. Sorry for the mistake.

The words of Doreen Bringham (98 years old) when she says :

"Then let me rest in Yorkshire,
For it's there I want to lie.
'Neath the sun and wind and heather,
and a gleaming Yorkshire sky."

Brought me to tears. What a great composition by Benjemin Hill and the words of this fantastic old gal!
God bless you Doreen.

Chris

Soldier boy, I think that should be Benjemin TILL.
Could a moderator change the title of the thread to "SONG FOR YORKSHIRE by BENJEMIN TILL" ? or append to the aforementioned thread?

Yeah, I'll second that bradfordian, can Joe or Max moderate the title of this thread to " Song for Yorkshire by Benjemin Till" please.
Thank you.

Chris
