Can any one identify and add more to these half remembered lyrics?

'Valleys green and mountain heather, o'er the countrywide'

Cheers
Mike

Maybe just a coincidence:

From The Beggar's Opera by John Gay, 1728:

AIR XL. The Lass of Patie's Mill.

Lucy. I like the fox shall grieve,
Whose mate hath left her side,
Whom hounds, from morn to eve,
  Chase o'er the country wide,
Where can my lover hide?
  Where cheat the wary pack?
If love be not his guide,
He never will come back. [Exeunt.

END of the SECOND ACT.

Thanks Jim but it's not that.
I've had a suggestion that it might have been sung by Noel Murphy.

This is a request from my sister, from a snatch running round her head.
More has emerged from the recesses:

'Valleys green and mountain heather, o'er the country wide,
Fishes spawning in our rivers, o'er the country wide,
Children's laughter, children's play, round on every side,
Growing darker day by day, o'er the country wide.
summat summat la la ........... down the Springfield Road'

Does this help anybody?

Cheers
Mike

I recall the singer being Jacko Murphy, from late '60's - early '70's
at Chesterfield folk club in the Queen's Park hotel, but that's as far as I've got. He was Irish, and a genial sort of chap, good singer.Haven't heard anything of him since those days. He may have written the song, but I may be inventing that.
Richard
PS to Mike. She's got me at it now.
