Glad to find this thread.

Real Country music rides again!

I didn't think they either wrote them or sang them like that anymore.

Hi All:
I look at this site almost daily, and very rarely post, but boy, am I glad to see a discussion about Jamey Johnson.
He's got a brand new dbl CD out (rel 9/14/10) called "The Guitar Song", and (while I obviously haven't spent that much time with it yet), it sounds like a worthy follow-up to the outstanding "That Lonesome Song".
Mr. Johnson's got a fine voice and a really nice delivery, and he's a really terrific writer. My band does a bunch of his originals (and a Waylon song he covers), and they're real well received. We encourage folks to check him out whenever we can. He seems to almost effortlessly capture a classic outlaw country vibe, but with a sort of contemporary feel. Old & new all at once.
"That Lonesome Song" is also really nicely recorded and features great players. I haven't tired of it after countless listens. Looking forward to spending more time with the new one. Curious to hear what the Mudcat folks say.
~CC

Wow. I hadn't heard of him, Bobert, but this sent me to YouTube where I've been listening to You Should've Seen it in Color (great), High Cost of Livin' (depressing), The Redneck Side of Me ( I like it) , That Lonesome Song (I'll have to hear it again; didn't quite get it), Last Cowby (great)

I can see why you're a fan. I'll be keeping my eyes and ears out for him.
