This is going very well..a wife/husband team of folklorists is traveling the US and I think verging into Canada and recording various women...some of whom you have heard of, like April Verch (and I know you have heard about her because I have waxed eloquent on her at various times) and Alice Gerrard..and some are not well known out of their local elements..this is on youtube...and will be provided to Library of Congress. They spent apparently a wonderful time down south because the Cajun/Creole music and blues are well represented. I think they are winding their way back home about now and should be in the Virginia area and heading back north and west but I am not sure. Anyway, just go to musicboxproject.org I think and also you tube and see these great American (anyone can be an American just by declaring themselves one in spirit or living on the American Continents including but not exclusive to countries in North, South, Central America and adjacent territies and Islands and of course the great land piece of Greenland and I hope I did not leave anyone out because people get upset if you do but that is not my intention, which is to be very inclusive as to who is an American) but this is predominantly USA Americans with a smattering of Canadian Americans) women...mg

I know I should just wait and post them all in one posting, but I keep finding great women! Listen to Do the best with what you got.

Thanks for the link, mg! I'm enjoying it and realize I could get lost in it pretty easily! Already have had a pleasant "visit" with Ann Savoy and her family, Evie, and our very own mg!

Nice salmon song, by the way! I'd be interested in hearing more about your salmon project.

They actually did record me at Fisher Poets, although I am neither. I am actually first on the list as they started with Fisher Poets..and got some great women. Our salmon project has been talked about for years but a bunch of us have hoped to record some songs about salmon fishing in PNW from British Columbia, Alaska etc. Salmon nation does have a similar project that includes more of the Fisher poets..just google salmon nation. mg
