Florida seems to have a busy folk scene. I went there once from the UK on my hols - there were monsoon-type rains every afternoon that washed alligators into the roads. Pretty fascinating place though. The only music I heard was Walt Disney stuff as I had three kids to keep amused! I would like to go back sometime and see the real Florida inc. the folk scene.

Subject: Florida Folk Festival 2010
From: Joe Offer
Date: 20 May 10 - 05:03 PM

I see that the Florida Folk Festival is coming up May 28 - 30, 2010. As always, it's at Stephen Collins Foster Memorial Park, where the Suwannee River crosses Interstate 75, not far north of Gainesville. I went one year, and really enjoyed it. I wish I were smart enough to schedule my annual visit to Dad the same time as the festival. I usually visit in August, when the weather is bound to be beastly.
