I'm talking about legal downloads that you pay for - no bootlegging or file sharing. I find a lot of things on Amazon.com , but there are some songs/tunes I'm looking for that aren't on there - among them some Andy M. Stewart recordings and old Silly Wizard material. This has probably been addressed before, but I couldn't find the thread. I don't want a subscription, but would prefer to just pay for each individual download. What are your favorite download sites? I wish Woven Wheat Whispers was still around - and that's the kind of thing I'm looking for.

CD Baby has quite a lot of folk albums. Whether you can buy individual tracks or have to buy the whole album is up to the artist, but most seem to allow it. In some cases you can buy physical CDs from them.

Hi Maryrrf,
If you send me a PM with your e mail address I will give you a link to a very good legal download site. The reason I'm not divulging the name is that they will give me 50 free downloads for promoting you. You can have a good browse thru their catalogue before you commit to joining.
                                  Cheers

Woven Wheat Whispers

Was that some sort of breakfast cereal?

emusic.com has a lot - folkways, topic, fellside, county are some of the folk labels they carry. I pay about fifty cents a track for downloads from emusic.

Yep, I joined them yesterday, courtesy of zozimus above.

Well worth a look. If you were really cynical, you'd join, download your 50 free tracks and leave.

This site however, has some great stuff and I think I'd stay for a while . . .
